This year’s line-up of Summer Slow Cooker Recipes is going to be even bigger than last year’s! You won’t find any soups or stews in this series. We’ll save those for fall and winter. Instead, we’ll be focusing on meals that have a bit of summer flair or that can be enjoyed year round.
The main thing is we want to keep the cooking simple this summer so you can enjoy other things. And we’ll keep our kitchens cool too! You can expect to see main dishes, sides and dessert recipes too.
The series will feature 100 recipes–that’s enough to get us through the entire summer, and provide us with inspiration for months to come! You’re sure to find lots of new meals your family will love as you work through the recipes in this roundup.
We’ve teamed up with bloggers from across the web to find some of the most delicious and easy recipes to share with you. You’ll find a brief description and even some menu ideas as well as a link back to their site for those. But some of the recipes are ones I created just for this series, and I hope you’ll love them as much as my family does.
You can sign up for the mailing list and download this FREE summer collection of recipes for the slow cooker.

Nancy A. says
Love using my slow cooker. In the summer it keeps the kitchen cooler. Just don’t know what to make in summer, so am looking forward to your series. I am used to the soups, but don’t want those in the hot weather. Can’t wait!!!
Holly Hope says
Looking forward to all the new recipes. I am on bed rest after an illness, but can turn on my slow cooker!

These sound great! Thanks!

How do you keep the fat in meats from making the dishes look odd? The meals don’t taste bad but appearance is changed in the sauces, etc I find often. I assume it’s from the fat within the meat. Any solutions? Thank you.
Kelly says
I put my crockpot in the garage, back porch, or basement up off the ground in the summer. As long as it is protected from animals this works fantastically. Crock pots can still put a lot of heat off in the house so I get it out and keep my house cool.
Chelsey says
I do the same thing and love it. I’m the kind of person that tends to forget that I have put dinner in the crock pot. More than once I have walked through the garage in the middle of the day to be pleasantly surprised by the delicious smell of dinner already underway!
Tabby says
I use my slow cookers (yes multiple cookers) during the summer. Cuts back on the electric bill since it doesn’t heat up the house 🙂
Cindy Ward says

I havent used my crock pot very much cause I hate cleaning it, but no wI have “discovered” the liners and meals like this that I have been looking for….. Watch out family here comes my crock pot!! 🙂
Anonymous says
they have come out with crock pot liners. omg they are wonderful. you find them by the foil.
Anonymous says
If you cant find them I have used turkey roasting bags too! I mean if they can handle a 350 + degree oven they can handle the crock pot.
Loretta McReynolds says
I live alone but would like to cook easy. I cook in large quantities and freeze.for future meals. I am tired of stews, chili, beans, and soup. I’d like something new easy and delicious.
Amy Jo says
I like this idea and post but didn’t appreciate the click-through-wild-goose-chase to get each recipe.

I was wondering if I could combine all the ingredients in a freezer bag & freeze and whenever I’m ready just thaw and put in the slow cooker?
Tiffany says
I’m not sure which recipe you’re talking about, but this will work with many recipes.
Emily says
Has anyone ever cooked meatless (Ukrainian style) cabbage rolls in a crock pot
I would like to try it this summer but would appreciate some feedback before I wreck something.
Tiffany says
Emily, I’ve never tried the meatless, but it seems like it would work. Do they have rice in them?
Emily says
Yes. Of course they have rice in them. I actually tried a small casserole yesterday. I cooked them on high for 4 hours from almost frozen and they were yummy. I’m thinking probably 8 hours for the 5 quart slow cooker on low after they have heated up. What do you think?
Tiffany says
8 hours sounds about right, but they may be done even before that. Sounds great!
tina says

Tiffany says
Tina, I found your email on the email list. I’m not sure why you wouldn’t be getting them. That’s strange. I’ll look into it.

I have so glad that I have found this site!!! I am scheduled for major surgery on 6/10 that will be followed by a very lengthy recovery that includes 4-6 weeks on a clear liquid diet then 3-4 months on a regular liquid (this follows an extremely aggressive BUT SUCESSFUL chemo regimen … so although it may sound horrible, I am actually very fortunate)! With a large family (6 children), I wondered how I was going to keep up with nutritious meals this summer with no energy and no appetite. However, after finding this article, I am not nearly as worried. As soon as I am back on my feet and back to work, I plan to purchase a year’s subscription of the meal planning … but for now, that cost is out of the question. I am so excited about this article and using my crockpot for these recipes!!!! THANK YOU for sharing!!!
