I wish I could say that I had garden fresh tomatoes for this dish, but my plants have yet to decide to really produce tomatoes. All I have are a few small green maters that taunt and torment me because they haven’t changed in size or color for weeks.
I’m a gardening failure. But that’s a whole ‘nuther post. For this dish I used a couple of store bought tomatoes and grape tomatoes (tragic because this is August) and 3 delicious cherry tomatoes from my garden.
We rarely eat steak. It’s more of a money issue than anything else. Yesterday I bought this round steak at the store. Sure, it’s not NY Strip or fillet mignon (my fav) but it’s still beef on the grill.
I decided to do a quick marinade and rub with red wine vinegar and homemade seasoned salt. The steak tasted as flavorful as it was quick to fix.
This is a bit of a tangent, but I’m loving the homemade seasoned salt. It’s perfect on all kinds of foods. You’ll see more recipes in the future (like tomorrow) that feature this new favorite seasoning.
This salad was perfect with the Hawaiian Grilled Chicken. It’s full of pineapple, green onions, macadamia nuts, bacon…Yum! I found the recipe on Bethany’s blog, For the Love of Grub. I completely forgot to take a picture of this slaw after it was done. We ate it up too quickly. It was part of our “Dog and Suds” supper – hot dogs, root beer and this slaw. It made for some happy kids.
