The Little Things – Giveaway

Last Tuesday I went to Nashville and got to meet someone who has made a huge difference in my business and life.  I’ve talked about Andy Andrews and his books on my blog before a couple of times. Over a year ago, I joined his Unshakeable Entrepreneur program and I can’t say enough about how wonderful it’s been.  I’ve learned so much and it’s had a huge impact on my business.

On Tuesday Andy and his team hosted an UE event in Nashville.  Everyone had a chance to meet Andy.  He spoke and did a Q&A.  We heard Jimmy Yeary sing a few songs for us.  And we got to meet many other UE members and hear about their businesses.  This was by far the best business event I’ve ever been to.

If you have a business, get on the email list so you’ll know when Unshakeable Entrepreneur opens again!

Andy has a new book out that is fantastic!  It’s called The Little Things – Why You Really Should Sweat the Small Stuff, but I promise that it will impact you in a big way.  I’ve read through it once and I’m starting it again.  It’s that good.  I’ve heard the audio book is outstanding too.

Giveaway! Giveaway is closed now.

I’m giving away 5 copies of The Little Things to five winners.  To enter, tell me in the comments if you’ve ever read one of Andy Andrews’ books before and if so, which one.

Winners will be drawn and notified by email on March 29.  US residents only.

No matter what, make sure you get yourself a copy of The Little Things!

How to Manage Your Home Without Losing Your Mind – Giveaway!

how-to-manage-your-home-selfie

I took this selfie at three o’clock in the afternoon.  Yes, those are the breakfast dishes in the background.  (Mom, if you’re reading this, turn away now!)

Clearly, I need the book that I’m holding.

I work from home, which in some ways seems like it would make it easy to keep up with daily cleaning tasks.  But what happens is that by the time I drive my daughter to her classes and/or help her get started on school work (she does a hybrid homeschool/cottage school), I need to get started on my own work at the computer.  So the dishes wait.  And the laundry waits.  And unless I set a timer or intentionally take a break to straighten things, all of those chores will be ignored until I quit working at dinner time.  Or quit so that I can take Mia to volleyball practice or some other errand.

I have loved Dana White’s blog, A Slob Comes Clean for years.  I met Dana at a conference quite a few years ago and she is delightful!  Her new book is just as delightful, which is not something you can say very often about a book on cleaning.

Here’s how Dana introduces her book in the first few pages:   [Read more…]

Lemon Pepper Parmesan Peas (plus a Pyrex giveaway and ideas for dressing up canned vegetables)

Lemon Pepper Parmesan Peas

I’ve shared before that I often forget about side dishes until it’s nearly too late.  I’m a big fan of keeping the sides simple.

Canned veggies are one of my go-to sides, especially if I’m running short on time, which happens often!

Peas are one of our favorites.  I usually serve them with butter, salt and pepper.  But this time I decided to dress them up a bit.

Packing Lunch the Easy Way – And a Giveaway!

When this school year started, we didn’t have a need for lunch packing. We homeschool, so lunch usually means pulling leftovers from the fridge. In years past, we’ve had various classes around town that would make packing lunch a necessity. But that wasn’t the plan for this year.

Until a couple of weeks ago, that is. Things don’t always go the way we plan them, do they? After a lot of planning, detouring, praying and plotting I finally stumbled on a program that works great for my kids.

We’re still homeschooling, but we’re doing it with the addition of some classes that they attend two days a week. However, they don’t go on the same days. Isaac is out of the house on Mondays and Wednesdays and Mia goes Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Did I mention that it takes about 45 minutes to drive over to the classes? Yep. My own personal seat is becoming shaped like the car seat. But it’s all worth it!

This change also means that at least one lunch is getting packed each day. So when Applegate HALF TIME™ asked me if I wanted to try their new Applegate Organics’ HALF TIME™ Lunch Kits I jumped at the chance.

Each lunch kit is made up of the trusted Organic and Natural brands (Applegate, Stonyfield & Annie’s). The kids like these brands, so lunch is a treat for them. (And no bringing home half eaten sandwiches complaining of soggy bread. Do your kids do this?)

Applegate HALF TIME™ lunches come in three varieties – Turkey and Cheese, Ham and Cheese and Bologna and Cheese. The meats are all humanely raised with no preservatives, nitrites or nitrates. You can find HALF TIME™ lunches at Target, BJ’s, and Safeway. A product locator can be found here.

Giveaway!

One winner will receive an assortment of Applegate HALF TIME™ products, including:

· All three varieties of HALF TIME™: Turkey & Cheese, Ham & Cheese, and Bologna & Cheese

· A draw-your-own lunch bag

· A set of permanent markers

· Coupons

· Activity book

To enter: Leave a comment letting me know which variety you think your kids would like best.

You can find Applegate on Facebook and Instagram.

Apricot and Pecan Topped Brie Appetizer (and a Bakeware Giveaway!)

Apricot and Pecan topped Brie

I’ve been working with Libby’s recently and I was so excited to be asked to create a Thanksgiving recipe using their product.  I chose to use Libby’s apricot halves.  Apricots are a favorite of mine.  I used to eat them with breakfast every day. Yum!

This appetizer couldn’t be simpler to make.  It has plenty of fall flavor too.  Apricots and pecans get spiced up with cinnamon, nutmeg and a splash of vanilla.  The warm fruit tops melty brie for an appetizer that your guests will love!  It will definitely keep them happy and willing to wait a bit longer for dinner.

(I’ve also got a fantastic giveaway at the end of this post, so keep reading!)

Here’s what you’ll need to make the appetizer:   [Read more…]

Gingerbread Muffins with Orange Marmalade Filling

Gingerbread Muffins with Orange Marmalade

We’ve been having some beautiful autumn weather here.  The cool, sunshine days make me want to get outside for a picnic.

If you get the picnic itch in the fall too, you’re going to love this recipe and the giveaway too!

Smucker’s sent me a picnic basket full of goodies (and they’re going to send one to one of you too!), including jars of some of their jams.  As soon as I saw the orange marmalade I knew I wanted to create a muffin with it.

Gingerbread pairs wonderfully with orange marmalade and the combination tastes like fall.  And muffins are perfect picnic food.  They travel well and don’t require plates or cutlery.  Be sure to pack some cold apple cider to drink with these!

Here’s what you’ll need to make the muffins:   [Read more…]

Veggie Chowder – Dinner into Lunch (plus a Slow Cooker Giveaway!)

Veggie Chowder Dinner into Lunch

I’m going to be talking about 3 of my favorite things in this post.  Soup.  Sweet potatoes.  And slow cookers.

Make that 4 of my favorite things – how could I forget easy dinners!  When Libby’s asked me to create an easy dinner recipe that cold be repurposed into lunch, I was in.  Our lunches almost always consist of leftovers.  Why cook twice, when you can do it once and have a second meal out of the deal?

This Veggie Chowder comes together really quick.  The other thing I like about it, is that it’s a pantry meal.  You can keep all of these things on hand, so you have the fixings for a fast dinner any time.

Here’s what you’ll need:   [Read more…]
