Puff Pastry Waffles with Nutella and Strawberries

Puff pastry meets waffle iron

That picture says it all!  Puff pastry.  Waffle iron.  Nutella and Strawberries.  Go make it!

Even though no more words are necessary, I’ll add a few anyway.  Puff pastry cooked in a waffle iron is like a waffle-croissant.  Wafflesant.  Croiwaffle.

Basically, it’s flaky perfection!  Crisp, thin layers on the outside and tender inside.

This dessert couldn’t be easier.  Place squares of thawed puff pastry dough on the hot waffle iron and cook, just like you’re making a waffle.

Spread thick layers of Nutella on the Wafflesants, stack and top with strawberries.

Take a bite and love yourself forever for making such an easy, amazing dessert!

Nutella Rice Krispie Treats

Need some chocolate today?

These remind me so much of a certain candy bar, but I can’t put my finger on which one.  They are sweet, chocolatey and chewy.  All 6 kids who were in the house when I made them gave them a thumbs up.

This is not the normal marshmallow type of rice krispie treat.  I decided to use my mother-in-law’s recipe for peanut butter rice krispie treats, but substituted Nutella for the peanut butter.  It’s an easy recipe and it’s also nice if you don’t happen to have a bag of marshmallows in the pantry.

Here’s what you’ll need:  [Read more…]

Nutella and Fruit Topped Waffles

Oh my goodness.  This is beyond amazing.

Nutella slathered over malt waffles and piled high with bananas, blueberries and strawberries.  Wow!

A while back I saw a post on the Disney Food Blog about new waffle sandwiches available at Sleepy Hollow in Magic Kingdom.  I’ve vowed that we will try these on our next trip.  But I couldn’t wait that long.  I decided to make them at home.

I used malted milk powder in the waffles to make them more like Magic Kingdom waffles.  I don’t own a Belgian waffle maker, but if you have one, you’ll want to use it for this recipe.   I think thicker waffles might make them easier to fold into a sandwich.  We ate them on a plate, with a fork. Nutella Ice Cream

Yes.  This tasted just as good as it sounds.

And it couldn’t be any simpler to make.  Just 2 ingredients!

I first saw the recipe on Pinterest.  It comes from the blog Sticky Gooey Creamy Chewy.  Such a fabulous idea!

I changed the recipe just a bit from the original.  Instead of using evaporated milk, I used half & half.

Nutella Muffins

The outside looks like a plain vanilla muffin.  But inside there’s a creamy pocket of Nutella hiding.

Can it get any better?

I don’t think so.

Loy says dessert-like muffins should be called “Muffcakes”.  I agree completely.

Here’s how you make this magic – and please do go straight to your kitchen to make these.  You will love yourself for it!  [Read more…]

Nutella and Macadamia Nut Braided Strudel

3 ingredients.  (4 if you include the egg wash)

And one of the ingredients is Nutella.  You just can’t go wrong with that.

My oldest daughter and her friend were discussing on Facebook their desire to eat Nutella toaster pastry.  They thought someone should invent that.  Because I stalk my kids on Facebook (you stalk yours too, right?), I commented that I could make that happen.

It’s a cinch to make, looks impressive and tastes even better.  The hardest part is waiting for it to cool.  The flavors are more pronounced at room temp, rather than warm from the oven.

Crepes with Nutella and Strawberry Filling

crepes done

When my sister and I were teens, we used to make these crepes together.  I’m not sure where we found the recipe.  It could be that we brought it home from French class.  If so, that’s about the only thing I brought home from French class.  The language lessons didn’t stick nearly as well as the memory of these crepes!

I hadn’t made them in years, partly due to the fact that I didn’t own a non-stick skillet.  I finally broke down and bought one last week.  It’s just a basic 10.5” WearEver brand.  The next day I picked up a copy of Kitchen Wisdom by Julia Child from the library.  The book is excellent and it really made me happy to see her recommend a basic non-stick skillet from WearEver, “available in any hardware store” as she put it.

S’mores Pie

I woke up one morning, and found myself inventing this pie in my mind.  Why I would wake up thinking of pie, is beyond me, but I’m glad I did.   The classic combination of graham cracker, chocolate and toasted marshmallows are fantastic in a pie. [Read more…]

Peanut Butter Cheater Smores and a Poll

No fire? No stick?  No problem.  This is #3 in the Peanut Butter Sandwich 365 challenge.  Cinnamon graham crackers, creamy peanut butter, Nutella and Marshmallow Cream.  It would probably be even better if you could start a fire, grab a stick and roast a real marshmallow, but this quick version was delish.

I also have a poll for you today.  I’m wondering if you are a “stick to the recipe” type of cook or if you see recipes more as guidelines for cooking.

Crunchy Monkey Peanut Butter Sandwich

This made for some good snacking.  This is #2 in my Peanut Butter Sandwich 365 project (of which I have no real ambitions for actually making it to 365 versions of PB sandwiches).

Vanilla wafers, crunchy peanut butter, Nutella and banana.  Oh yeah!
