Need some chocolate today?
These remind me so much of a certain candy bar, but I can’t put my finger on which one. They are sweet, chocolatey and chewy. All 6 kids who were in the house when I made them gave them a thumbs up.
This is not the normal marshmallow type of rice krispie treat. I decided to use my mother-in-law’s recipe for peanut butter rice krispie treats, but substituted Nutella for the peanut butter. It’s an easy recipe and it’s also nice if you don’t happen to have a bag of marshmallows in the pantry.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Nutella Rice Krispie Treats
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 1 cup Nutella
- 6 cups crisped rice cereal
Instructions
- Put sugar and corn syrup in a heavy sauce pan.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in Nutella.
- Stir in cereal.
- Spread in greased 9x9 inch pan.
- Cool on counter before serving.

This looks delicious, and I will try it soon. However, you sparked an idea to make GREEN rice krispie treats for a get together on Saturday. The kids will love them!

My two daughters love rice Krispie treats and they love Nutella. What a great recipe! Thanks for sharing. I can’t wait to make this with them.

Can the corn syrup be substituted? Corn allergy…
Tiffany says
Karla, if you can have honey, I think that would make a good substitute.

Are you sure the recipe doesn’t call for a 9X13 pan? I don’t think this would all fit in a 9X9 pan. I just made some and it filled the 9X13 over half.
Haven’t tasted them yet as they are cooling but licking the spoon was delicious. LOL
Thanks for a great recipe. I love rice krispy bars but am allergic to peanuts. Great alternative!

I did use a 9×9 pan and pressed them down. They were thick though.

They taste just like Little Debbie Star Crunch, without all the nasty ingredients. YUM!!

I was so looking forward to this – made it for an office treat. The taste is okay – oddly not very Nutella-y to me – but OMG, you’re gonna need a chainsaw to cut them. It could have been my mistake in making two batches using 8×8 aluminum pans so they’re super thick. Maybe a thinner version would have been better – 9×9 or 9×13. But my office mates are laughing hysterically at this, my most recent flop. In a good-natured, of course. This thing could be used as a weapon.
