Slow Cooked Peaches and Cream Oatmeal

Waking up to hot oatmeal is a joy.  And this Peaches and Cream Oatmeal is absolutely scrumptious!  It only takes a few minutes to prep in the evening.  I use my small slow cooker with a cheapo hack to make it programmable.

This recipe makes 4-6 servings.  The leftovers heat up well in the microwave.  It’s thick after being refrigerated, but just add a little milk to thin them down.

Here’s what you’ll need:

I used peaches in light syrup, but you could use heavy syrup instead if you like it sweet.  My daughter and I both added a little sugar to our bowls, but it was just right for Jim without the added sugar.  What can I say?  We girls like our sweets.

  3. can this be made with Quaker old fashion Oats?? All I have in the house

    • Yes, you can do it with old fashioned oats. You might want to check the box for liquid/oat proportions. It may be different than the steel cut kind.

    • I totally love oats and eat them ALL the time for braaefkst. I make them cooked over the stove, overnight oats, braaefkst cookies, etc. I’ve never put hemp seeds in my oatmeal and that’s a great idea because i purchased some recently and have only used them once on my salad! Thanks for the idea!

  4. Thanks for this recipe – am going to try this in the crock-pot tonight. Also a big thank you for the tip on the programmable timer! I never would have thought of that.

  5. LOVE this recipe and it’s not overly sweet like the store bought kind. Thanks for the recipe!

Making this right know, and my kitchen smells sooo good!! Can’t wait to try this tomorrow in the morning. Greetings from Spain! :)

  7. This is our favorite breakfast. The only change I made was not to drain the peaches. I serve it with cinnamon, brown sugar substitute and about 1/2 tsp of butter.

  8. I put this in the crock pot last night and just had a bowl of it. So creamy and warming. Love the taste, never thought I would like steel cut oats. Had them once a long time ago and they were sort of hard and not creamy like this. Must be the crock pot and the overnight cooking that does that. I added a little cinnamon on top and it added a little something extra. It does make a lot, so will try putting it in the fridge and warming a bowl up when I want some more. Who knew it could taste so great?! Going to make the Apple Pie one next!

  9. I made this last night but I used a real peach instead of canned peaches.. It turned out tasty but my milk curdled in the night. Has this happened to anyone else?

  10. Can you use fresh peaches? What would you use for liquid? Have a ton of fresh peaches to use up.

  11. Does this recipe work when cooked on high?
