I’m pretty sure I’ve confessed before that I’m very lazy in the kitchen. If it can be done easier, I’m all for it.
This is my tip for cutting watermelon in a hurry. You can have an entire melon ready to serve in about 5 minutes with this trick.
Just cut the melon in half. Then use an ice cream scoop or even a large, metal spoon to scoop out melon balls. Actually, they won’t be perfect balls. So if you’re needing a melon that looks fantastically beautiful, this isn’t the method to use. I can’t even help you with that method, because I don’t often worry about beautiful food.
But if you just need your watermelon cut up so a bunch of hungry kids can dig in, this is your method! Give it a try!
I use this method all the time. Sometimes, I cut the melon in half, and then score it with a sharp knife. I use a large serving spoon to get the fruit out. Again, it’s not pretty, but it’s quick and easy.
For quick, easy, AND pretty, check out this method. I haven’t struggled awkwardly with a watermelon since I discovered it! 🙂
