I found a surprise in our strawberry patch the other day. A perfectly round nest with 3 eggs. There are now 5 eggs in the nest. Busy bird.
She chose a splendid little spot for her nest. It’s well hidden and there’s a chicken wire fence around the strawberry patch to protect it. For a while after finding the nest, we didn’t see the mama. She skitters out of the nest and under the strawberry plants when we come near. She’s a sparrow.
I did a little sleuthing online to find out about sparrow nests. Apparently, they are seen as a terrible nuisance and many people destroy the nest and eggs. It reminds me of the verse that says, “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one will fall to the ground apart from the will of the Father.” (Matthew 10:29) “You are worth more than many sparrows.” (Matthew 10:30b)
Even when we are an unwanted nuisance, God still loves and cherishes us. Be encouraged!
Fun stuff around the web
I’m on Pinterest. Have you heard of it? It’s a cool site where you can virtually pin images you find around the web to your own virtual bulletin boards. You can use it to organize your finds for big projects (like a wedding or kitchen remodel) or just for fun (like my In a Jar board or my Rainbows board).
Special thanks to Eat at Home sponsors
I want to welcome a couple of new site sponsors.
Coupon Cookin’ offers coupons and store deals, as well as great recipes.
My Favorite Recipes Book is a great way to organize your paper-and-ink recipes. My mom has one of these organizers and loves it.
Plan to Eat is the way to organize your digital recipes. You can also click and drag them onto a calendar to create a menu and it will produce a grocery list automatically. Cool!

Good Morning Tiffany! What a beautiful nest, and just a gorgeous photo – you need to frame it! I’m on the waiting list for Pinterest, but am enjoying your boards. In a Jar … I do a lot of things with washed out jars, but I’ve never done any of these! Time to get busy!

Andrea, I just sent you an invite so you won’t have to wait 🙂

Got a question about washing out jars – any advice on getting labels off? What about the sticky residue that some of them leave? I’m amazed at the glue they use to put those on. It just doesn’t come off.

Goo Gone- it’s a golden amber colored liquid. Perhaps the reason it is gold colored is because it is just that- PURE GOLD!!! It’ll take the goo off of anything! It is a bit oily, but a quick soap and warm water wash gets rid of that. I’ve used it to remove gum, tape residue from plastic, label glue and it’s even removed tape residue from my metal cabinets (the tape blue was more than 4 yeas old, but came off after soaking for only a couple of minutes)
Love the nest picture… you should frame it and I’m glad God brought to mind that scripture in Matthew. He does love us, but He also took the time to create them too.

Yippee! Now I’m on pinterest and following you!
I do the old fashioned thing with my jars – score it a bit with an exacto knife then soak it in warm soapy water. I do have one secret weapon that does save my nails. Pampered Chef has these plastic scrapers that are for scrapping their stoneware – do you know what I’m talking about? – these work great in place of using a fingernail. But you’re right – some companies are determined their labels will stay on for centuries!

I’m happy you didn’t destroy the nest…we are all Gods creatures. I posted on Facebook this morning a cute birds nest I found in my petunia plant. Best of luck with your birdies! 🙂

Pinterest looks so cool!
I stumbled upon your blog today, and just had to so it’s awesome.
P.S. I’ve been using Plan To Eat for almost 2 years now, and I love it. It’s one of the few splurges I have. I’m thinking of combining that menu plan on your Pinterest with Plan to Eat as that’s a lot prettier.
