When my youngest daughter asked for an Easy Bake Oven for Christmas, my first thought was of eating expensive light-bulb baked cakes. But I found out that you can use real food in the Easy Bake Oven and Santa was given the green light to bring one in his sack.
He also brought a copy of Baking with Mommy Cookbook, which has some great little recipes in it, including this one for Marshmallow Mud.
Gather up your ingredients:
2 Tbs. Rice Cereal (we used Honey Bunches)
5 small marshmallows
1 Tbs. chocolate chips
1/2 tsp. butter
Butter the pan
Put the cereal in the buttered pan
Put the chocolate chips in
Add the marshmallows and smoosh them down a bit. We learned the hard way that there is not much room inside the Easy Bake Oven.
Bake for 5 minutes. Stir and drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper. The kids were happy with the taste of these.
We also made a little chocolate fondue in the warming cup, by filling the cup with chocolate chips.
Yum!

We, er, I mean, my daughter got an easy bake oven for Christmas, too. (I loved mine as a child!) I did not know about the book, but we found some fun recipes on line. I can’t wait to try this one.
So excited…
Thanks for sharing!

There’s just nothing like easy baked oven food!! I remember as a kid I thought that was THE BEST. Now that I’m older I’ve had it again and realize those brownies taste like cardboard!

Wow, I wouldn’t buy her an Easy Bake because I remembered the cake tasting a little “bleh”. (We did get the cupcake maker, though.) I didn’t realize you could make other stuff with the Easy Bake!
