The idea for Brownies ala Mode with Wild Berry Sauce came to me when I was out with Jim on a date night. We like to go to Ted’s Montana Grill for dinner together. The restaurant isn’t too loud and the high back booths are private. It’s a place where we can have a conversation, something that’s a challenge at home sometimes.
The last time we were in there, the waitress gave us a dessert menu. We were stuffed, but I wanted to look over the menu anyway. The restaurant has nice theming and I wondered if they would have desserts that fit the wild, out-west theme. I was surprised to see that most of the desserts didn’t fit at all. I told Jim I was surprised by that. He asked what I would serve.
And that’s when I came up with this idea.
Deep chocolate brownies, a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a lightly sweetened mixed berry sauce over it all.
This is so easy to make at home. It would make a great dessert for Valentine’s Day or a dinner with company. But it’s also simple enough for a plain old Tuesday night.
Here’s what you’ll need:
I used a box mix for the brownies, but if you have a favorite homemade brownie recipe you could use that instead. Frozen mixed berries are readily available in the freezer section of the grocery. The berries are not only easy to use, they elevate plain brownies to decadent dessert.
