I love cornbread. It is absolutely delicious fresh from the oven with a slather of butter and honey on top, and it also is the match made in heaven for some of my favorite meals, like with a good bowl of chili! I love it so much that I keep finding more ways to eat it.
The great thing about corn bread is there are so many different ways to serve it up. While one of my favorite things ever is pulling a skillet of crusty corn bread out of the oven, my life would not be complete with out corn casserole or cheddar muffins being a part of it. Not to mention all the delicious things like cornbread pizza, tamale sandwiches or that delicious plate of chipped beef gravy over cornbread. To me, cornbread is just the perfect fall bread, so I decided to share all of my favorites in one place. I know I said that I was going to share eight cornbread recipes and meals in this post, but I sneaked in a ninth one as a bonus!
Nine of my Favorite Cornbread Recipes
- Cornbread Muffins
- Yeast Cornbread
- Cornbread in a Skillet
- Corn Casserole
- Cheddar Muffins
- Chipped Beef Gravy over Cornbread
- Mexican Vegetables on Cornbread
- Tamale Sandwiches on Cornbread
- Cornbread Pizza
Don’t miss the chili recipes! Chili and cornbread are a perfect combo.

I love it over shepherd’s pie or taco pie and i also at times mixed honey to it or used a flavored syrup. i also like it mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with white or yellow cake mix. Really good with beans and ham. Being from Georgia cornbread was almost a nightly thing at our house. Mom always like it the next day crumbled up with milk in a glass, me, not so much..

I love cornbread with pinto beans! My favorite! I like my cornbread on the sweet side like Jiffy’s box mix.

I love cornbread. Growing up in the south we had it several times a week with the normal Southern food. The most unusual way I had it was with grilled shrimp in a pesto alfredo sauce served over a slightly sweet corn bread. I would love to have it again, but it was a special meal at an Irish pub in the town I live in up here in Wisconsin.

Years ago, one of my good friends turned me on to the most amazing, yet simple ways to eat cornbread I’d ever tasted!!! While your cornbread is still hot, cut a big piece & slice it open. Put a good amount of butter inside it & put the top piece back on top of the butter. Then take the syrup & pour it all over the top of the hot, buttered cornbread!!! You’ll think you went to Heaven!!! Enjoy, & be blessed!!

I for the life of me could not remember what the meal was that I ate one time at a friends house I was staying over night. But cornbread was the outer crust and ground beef with some other stuff was inside of it oh my goodness it was delicious and I would love to make it , does anyone know what I’m talking about?
