Homemade Toaster Strudels {quick and easy}

I like to show my kids that things they like in the grocery store or restaurants can usually be made at home. It takes some of the appeal out of spending that money when you know that you can make the same thing at home, and often times they are cheaper, healthier, and taste better. I’m not saying these Homemade Toaster Strudels are any healthier, but they were SO easy and very tasty!

Raspberry Filled Brownies ala Mode

If you’re looking for a special dessert for Valentines Day, this is it.  Your sweetie will love you for making this!

The raspberry filling dresses up the brownies.  Chocolate and raspberry mingle so well together.   A scoop of vanilla ice cream with extra raspberry sauce adds decadence.

As a side note, I think I could use some food styling help.  I sprinkled cocoa powder on the white plate and set the brownie in the middle.  So far, so good.  A round scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top of the brownie.  And then I warmed the raspberry sauce and spooned it over the top.  Instead of drizzling down the ice cream in rivulets, it melted the ice cream and slid off in an un-pretty way.

Oh well.  Once we dug our spoons in, it didn’t matter how pretty it looked.  It tasted divine!

Cherry Squares

My favorite birthday treat is Cherry Squares. I don’t get them every year, but often my mom will bake a batch for me. Even though I did see her just 10 days before my birthday, she didn’t make me any. Can you believe that? I know. It’s a sad life I lead.

So, I decided to make a pan for myself. This is the first time I’ve ever made them. The recipe makes a large jelly roll pan, but I cut the recipe in half to make a 9×13 pan. Food blogging can start to go to a person’s hips. I did not need to chow down on a full recipe of these sweet cherry treats.
