I know traditional tiramisu does not involve chocolate, but I couldn’t resist.
The inspiration for this comes from Disney World’s Pop Century Resort. I’ve never eaten it before, but I’ve heard others talk about it. The recipe is posted at All Ears. I simplified the recipe quite a bit.
The result is a creamy, rich dessert infused with coffee. It takes the Twinkie to a whole new level, far above a lunch box snack eaten after a bologna sandwich.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1/3 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2/3 cup strong brewed coffee
- 2 boxes (3.4 oz) chocolate fudge instant pudding mix
- 3 1/2 cups milk
- 1 container frozen whipped topping, thawed (8oz)
- 1 box Twinkies
Mix the boiling water and sugar together, stirring until the sugar is dissolved and the liquid turns clear. Stir in the coffee and let it cool.
Mix the pudding mix and milk together with an electric mixer until the pudding has thickened. Fold in the whipped topping. This makes a delicious mousse-like fluff.
Slice the Twinkies in half, lengthwise. Place half of the slices on the bottom of a pan. I experimented with pan sizes. 9×13 was a bit too big. 9×9 was too small.
Drizzle with half the coffee syrup.
Spread half of the chocolate fluff over the Twinkies in the pan. Top with the rest of the Twinkies. Drizzle with the remaining coffee syrup. Spread the chocolate fluff over the top of all of it. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Here’s what the first layer of Twinkies looked like in the pan:
I didn’t have quite enough room for all the chocolate fluff. I put the extra in a bowl and my kids ate it up. See how full the pan was:
The dessert tasted good the same day I made it, but it was even better the next day.
When was the last time you ate a Twinkie? Have you ever had Twinkie Tiramisu in Disney World?
This post is part of Potluck Sunday at Mommy’s Kitchen.

I have never made anything like this. But your photos and explanations give me courage to try it.

You have been a wonder in my life and have saved me many headaches and hassles. I am a working mother of 3 (12,9, and7) and have so little time on my hands that it is great to be able to print off your recipes and shopping lists. This dessert looks awesome, but I am afraid the twinkies wouldn’t last long enough for me to make it!

I stumbled upon your blog a few weeks ago. It is already one of my FAVORITES!!! I am home educating mom to 4 little boys. As a family, we are trying to cut our food budget down and stop eating out as much. Your blog has helped us with that. Thank You! Keep it up!
God Bless~

At the office I used to work, someone had heard a Twinkie would last 40 years or so if unopened. So we bought one, dated it and kept it in a drawer. We would take it out now and again and decide if it looked any worse for the time spent in the drawer. Over 6 years it changed very little. It always made me wonder what it was made of.

Oh my gosh, Sandy! You crack me up! And I refuse to think about what’s in a Twinkie. Just like I don’t think about what’s in a hot dog either 😉

Mmmm… Twinkies and Tiramisu… I love to eat Twinkies out of the freezer, but I will have to get some out to make this. It looks delicious!

I’ll be trying this one for sure! Thanks for simplifiying the recipe, it looks simple to make and easy to eat up! 😀
Brook says
Do you have another idea to subsitute the coffee?
Tiffany says
Brook, I suppose you could just leave out the coffee part. I think it would be good with just the Twinkies and chocolate fluff. I’m not sure what you could substitute.

When I saw this recipe today, I had to run out to the store and get the ingredients to make this today! I thought the taste was great, especially for how easy it was. I will say that when I make it again I will just put straight coffee over the twinkies and I will probably put it in a triffle bowl with a little bit of cinnamon.
I love your website and your ideas!!! YOU ROCK!!!

I should also add that there is none for me to have tomorrow to see how much better it tastes 🙁 Maybe I will have to double the recipe next time 🙂
