Oh my goodness!  Please go to your kitchens and make this for dinner tonight.  It is soooo delicious.  And it’s easy.  (If I had a nickel for every time I said that a recipe is easy, I would be rich.  Or, at least I’d have an extra 30 cents a week.)

The tilapia is seasoned and cooked in garlic butter with a splash of lime juice.  Divine!

Here’s what you’ll need:

Garlic Lime Tilapia

Servings: 4 -5 servings

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbs. butter
  • 2-3 cloves garlic crushed
  • 6 Tilapia fillets
  • Old Bay Seasoning
  • 1/4 cup lime juice

Instructions

  • Melt the butter in a large skillet.
  • Add the garlic and cook for a minute or two.
  • Season the fish with Old Bay Seasoning on both sides of each fillet. Add to the skillet.
  • Cook for several minutes. Flip and cook the other side for a couple minutes.
  • Pour the lime juice into the skillet.
  • Cover and cook the last few minutes until the fish flakes easily with a fork.

Serves 4-5 people, depending on how much they eat.  We had enough for 5 of us, but we all would have eaten more because it was so good.  Next time I’ll double the recipe.

    1. I just made this for dinner and OMG. I found my new favorite way to make Tilapia. Easy and delicious. Full of flavor!! Two thumbs way up!

  1. I do something similar but I line a cookie sheet with foil and back them in the oven. When you are finished you just throw the foil in the trash.

  2. To quote my 8 1/2 year old son, “Mom, can have a GIANT plate of this when I get home from wrestling practice?” Yes, yes you can!! Great recipe and super-quick. 🙂 Thank you.

  3. Ok I’m a little behind on this dish but oh my goodness!! I am on a high protein way of eating after a surgery and I was scared of making fish, especially on the stove.

I have to say this is probably my favorite recipe ever and the fish was perfect. I don’t have Old bay so I used a Cajun spice but the garlic and lime? OMG! I know I keep going but thank you for this recipe. Even my husband who does not like fish raved about it!

  4. MmMmMMmmM! I HAVE to make this asap! Thanks to you and your recipes I’ve just decided I have to go to Costco and buy a big bag of tilapia so I can make all your tilapia recipes! ‘Tony’s Tilapia’ looks great too, but this dish I want NOW. Anything with butter and garlic gets priority. 😀 Thanks a LOT for your recipes… I haven’t closed this website for days! I just keep printing recipes all day everyday! (I don’t turn off my comp). BEST WEBSITE. EVER!!!!!

  5. Sounds SO good, want to run to the grocery and get the supplies immediately. I can’t wait to try this one!

  6. I have a silly question, but, the tilapia needs to be thawed first, correct? We are venturing into the fish world – truthfully I’ve never eaten it and hoping I will love this!

  7. Just made this dish. I enjoyed it with brown rice and broccoli. I’ll do it again, but letting the Old Bay Seasoning get acquainted with the fish. I also used Olive Oil and decreased the butter. Next time, I’ll go all in with olive oil.

    Thanks!

  8. This recipe sounds wonderful! My husband is on a low fat diet and I cook him lots of tilapia, so kind of getting tired of the regular recipes.

Just a couple questions, instead of butter, would it be ok to use olive oil? And what is Old Bay seasoning? Never heard of it. I’m in Southern Ontario Canada.

    Thanks so much!

    1. Peggy, you could use olive oil instead. Old Bay is a fish seasoning that is common in the southern part of the US. If you can’t find that, you could use another seasoning mix that you like.

  9. Super delicious as is. Picky 3 & 5 year old approved, husband thought it was from Carrabbas, and this sick prego loved it!

  10. I grew up eating fish on the Eastern beaches. This recipe is outstanding. The Old Bay and lime juice give the fish a rich buttery flavor. I have made this with salmon and talapia and think it would work with flounder too.

    1. Tina – this should work with any other fish that you have! You may need to adjust the cook time based on the size and thickness of the fish, so just keep that in mind and let us know how it turns out!
