Where would we be without onions? I put onions in nearly everything. They add so much flavor. I know some people don’t like them, but I was really shocked to read that Laura from I’m an Organizing Junkie almost always skips the onions in a recipe. Apparently, they are happy, well-adjusted people who get along just fine with no onions. (Maybe you just picked up a new tip to speed up your cooking. If so, you might want to skip the rest of this onion-loving post!)
I even associate the smell of cooking onions with Disney World. Pecos Bill’s in Frontierland, anyone?
Let’s get to the recipes! Here are some of my favorites:

Now it’s your turn. Link up any recipe on your blog that uses onions. It doesn’t have to be a recent post, just be sure to link directly to your recipe, not just the main page of your blog. I only ask that you include a link back to Eat at Home in your post. You can link directly to this post or use the button in the sidebar.

I don’t use onions either. My DH has acid reflux and an ulcer so he can’t eat them. Kind of a bummer because I loved cooking with them! We can’t eat tomatoes or tomato sauces either.

I LOVE onions!! We have at least a 50 foot row planted at all times. I hardly ever cook without them. I am really looking forward to seeing these recipes!

Onions are pretty much a staple in our home.
When I met hubby he was a very picky eater and so onions were diced up teensy tiny, now-a-days were have big crunchy chunks of onion in so many dishes.
My granddad has always had a big veggie garden and he strung some home-grown organic onions for me. They are so much more flavourful than store bought onions.

LOVE ONIONS! So good for you! I put onions and garlic in everything…. my favorite thing to do with onions is to put them on my grilled cheese along with a slice of tomato if we have them.

We eat onions like apples sometimes. Onions are in everything we eat! I can’t eat an omelet or hamburger, pizza or salads, or chicken or fajitas, or spaghetti sauce or ANYthing without them. My daughter even loves to saute’ sliced onions with beef bouillon granules and butter as a snack. Love Love Love ’em!!!!

I can’t even imagine not cooking with onions. My favorite eggs are simply eggs scrambled in butter with green onions. Mild wonderful flavor and if I’m really in the mood for special, I add a couple small cubes of cream cheese just before the eggs set.
My favorite smell is bacon fried with onions… I mean really it’s even better than the smell of coffee or popcorn.
As a child, my grandfather lived on a farm and of course onions is one of the things he grew. My mom liked to pull them when they were about the size of an apricot. She would leave a fairly long amount of the green top, she’d take them home peel and wash them then add them to a jar of ice water. That jar with its onions was on our dinner table all summer long. They were almost sweet. Loved those onions.

Onions, I think they add so much to a dish. Today I bring Cheese and Onion Nut Bread. This great to serve with soup or salad. I like it best, however, buttered and toasted in the oven. Thanks for hosting, Tiffany. Have a great week.

Truth is I’m just plain lazy LOL. Actually I will used minced freeze dried onion in some instances. Someone suggested I take some time to do up a big batch of diced onion and freeze it to pull out when I need it. I might do that 🙂
