It’s not like patting out my own hamburger patties is hard, but sometimes I like the convenience of the pre-made kind. The only problem with this is the inability to add flavors inside the patties, like adding onion soup mix or bbq or other seasonings to the meat before patting them out. I figured that you may have asked yourself the same question about how to season frozen hamburger patties.
Here are a few ideas on how to season frozen hamburger patties
Sprinkle it on:
- Seasoned salt
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Chili powder
- Good old salt and pepper
Slather it on:
- BBQ sauce – I’ve been liking a combo of Country Bob’s and Sweet Baby Ray’s. Surprisingly good mixed together.
- Italian dressing – don’t save it just for chicken breasts
- Hoisin sauce
- Worcestershire sauce
Cheese it up:
- Cheddar
- American
- Swiss
- Pepper Jack
I’d love to hear your ideas for making hamburgers more interesting. Leave a comment and tell me how you eat them!

I like to put 2 thinner patties together, with mozzerella cheese in the middle, pinching well so the cheese doesn’t ooze out. The, season with Italian seasoning, basil, crushed red peppers and salt/pepper (seasoned salt works well, too)
Grill up the burgers until done; put in a pita pocket & top with other pizza toppings like mushrooms, onion, olives, etc. Top with lettuce and more cheese.

Jalapenos are really good on burgers, so are chipotle mayonnaise, and French fried onions.
Another way to make an ordinary burger awesome is to toast the buns in a skillet almost as if you’re making a grilled cheese sandwich. It does add more calories but you don’t have to do it every time.

You can toast on a skillet without butter. It takes a little longer but I’ve been doing my grilled cheese that way lately.

Soy sauce or Teriyaki to finish… cook the burger, almost, to your desired temp. and then in the last minute splash either of these on and it adds a really nice layer of flavor. (good for steaks too).
a great marinade for steaks is Jack Daniels and Coke(diet or regular):
1part whiskey to 3 parts coke, make enough to cover meat or at least that they can get a good soak.
Note: you might want to lay off the salt if you want to try this.

I make chicken this way too, but when I make it in the skillet, I toss fresh lemon or lime slices on top and cover on medium heat. It soaks up the flavor beautifully. And I just toss whatever seasonings sound good on top with it depending on my sides for the night.

Soak the pre-made patties in Coke and soy just as you do for steak or other Meats

You pay extra for the convenience of the Pattie’s already being portioned and perfectly shaped. If they want to mix in a bowl, they’d just buy a pound of burger. The question sincerely asked for help in seasoning the pre-made patties.
I make a marinade with a can of beer, 1-2 T worstershire, a drizzle of olive oil. Take the frozen patties and moisten both sides in your pan of marinade. Then salt and pepper both sides. Or you can use steak seasoning. Let them thaw in the marinade flipping them a couple times. After throwing on the grill, slather them up with spicy brown mustard to give a little extra flavor. I’ve also used BBQ sauce when I’m out of Grey Poupon. Yum!
