Slow Cooker German Chowder

German Chowder

Today’s slow cooker soup recipe comes from my friend, Lynn of Lynn’s Kitchen Adventures.   I started to share her recipe for Crockpot Tomato Soup, but realized it didn’t match up with my “requirements” for this Slow Cooker Soup Series.

My self-imposed requirement is that the entire soup needs to be able to be made in the slow cooker.  No pre-cooking meat or sautéing onions allowed.

That has made it a lot harder to come up with recipes and to create them too.  But these are the absolute easiest recipes to make, so it’s worth the search.

I’ve wanted to try Lynn’s German Chowder for quite a while now.  It looks like the best kind of soup for winter days.  Hearty and warm.  Plus, it’s like a dressed up potato soup, which I love.

  2. Hi Tiffany! I’m enjoying this soup series. The German Chowder caught my eye – I tend to like German recipes – sausage and cabbage are just delicious together! Today, though, I actually opted for Lynn’s tomato soup since I had a bag of frozen tomatoes from my garden. And, I have turkey broth since it’s the Monday after Thanksgiving. This may turn out to be a disaster, but hopefully it will be delicious. Either way, thanks for the soup series!

    • Tomato soup with your garden tomatoes and turkey broth sounds fantastic to me!

      • It actually turned out well. I was worried the turkey stock would taste like Thanksgiving, since I snagged the turkey from our family get together last week. 🙂 I didn’t have the Italian cheeses, so I just made it plain and seasoned my bowl tonight with Penzey’s Cajun seasoning + Colby jack cheese. Thanks for the link to Lynn!

        • You’re welcome. I love Lynn’s blog and she’s become one of my good blogging friends too. Her cooking style is similar to mine, so if you like one of us, you’ll like the other too most likely 🙂
