I’m going to admit it right now – Green beans are not my favorite veggie. I like them fine if they’re fresh. I’m not a fan of canned green beans. But I do like green bean casserole. Don’t ask. That doesn’t make any sense to me either.
Because they aren’t my fav, I don’t have many recipes that use them.
- Cooking fresh green beans
- Smoked Sausage Skillet – this one is a guest post from Dawn Farias
Okay, so I don’t really have any recipes to share with you since one post is how to cook them and the other is a guest post. I’m relying on all of you to come up with the green bean recipes! I can’t wait to see what you’ve got.
Link up any recipe on your blog that uses green beans. It doesn’t have to be a recent post, just be sure to link directly to your recipe, not just the main page of your blog. I only ask that you include a link back to Eat at Home in your post. You can link directly to this post or use the button in the sidebar.

I linked up the green beans with feta & dill, which is one of my favorite things to eat in the whole wide world. 🙂

I have to agree, I love veggies but not so much green beans. I like broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprout & just about anything veggie but canned green beans are not a fav. I can eat them if they are the french cut but not the regular. I don’t really like fresh either, they squeak when you eat them & I can’t get past that. I will check out the guest recipes & just see if I can’t find something to do with the ones I am sure to be gifted with from peoples gardens. Hint people, I don’t grow them cause I don’t like ’em!! 🙂

Yes, they do. They squeak on your teeth. Unless you cook them too long, then they mush. Neither is good.

I don’t blog, but something I like to do with green beans is take a can of green beans, or some frozen ones, and a can of stewed tomatoes and cook them together with some Italian seasoning until they are tender. I also like to saute onions and add them too. It’s low in calories and fairly simple.

Lisa, that sounds really good. Thanks for sharing your recipe.

I love them when they are fresh and after picking off the ends, you throw them in a large pot with water and a ton of salt and let them boil away for a little while. The salt infuses into the green beans and taste great.

I’m growing green beans in my garden for the first time. Thanks for this awesome link-up!

I like the old fashioined green beans with a picnic ham and small red potatoes. We had that at least once every summer when I was growing up. We also canned green beans both when I was a child and when I was raising my family. I like green beans.

My favorite recipe comes from Cooking Light Magazine: Szechuan Green Beans w/ Pork. I’ve made this with thinly sliced pork chops or ground chicken/turkey and it was great that way too. I use less red pepper flakes as we aren’t spicy people. Best part is that you can use the free Green Giant Steamers when fresh green beans aren’t in season by microwaving for 3 min before adding to the skillet.
