A couple of weeks ago, I made over 7 slow cooker freezer meals in 1 hour. It was easy to do and I have loved having those meals ready to go!
We’ve used several of them and they’re super convenient.
Today, I’m going to get all brave and share the video I made on my cooking day. This is the first video I’ve ever done for my blog. For someone who can’t even stand looking at pictures of herself, putting a video out there is pretty intimidating.
I wanted to share it though, because I thought it would be helpful for others who want to do some freezer cooking in a limited amount of time. I’ve also got some tips to share with you.
Tips for Making Slow Cooker Freezer Meals Quickly
1. Choose easy recipes.
This may go without saying, but if you’re trying to accomplish a lot in a small amount of time, you need to keep it simple. Choose recipes that don’t require a lot of chopping or pre-cooking. You want “assembly only” type recipes.
2. Don’t measure what you don’t have to measure.
Many times, you can just eye-ball the measurements for ingredients. Look for recipes that will be forgiving of variances. It’s much faster to pour approximately 1/2 cup of an ingredient in than to measure it and then pour.
3. Do all your chopping at once.
Count the number of onions, garlic and other items that you’ll need to chop. Cut them all at one time and set aside.
4. Group ingredients for each recipe together.
As you open cans, chop onions or set out spices, group the ingredients for each recipe. And don’t forget to keep your printed recipe handy so you can refer to it.

The last time I did freezer cooking I did several slow cooker meals. I love it! They are quick and easy to put together and really easy to cook on the day I’m ready to finish making them. 🙂

Thanks, Marcie!

This was GREAT! I never learned crockpot cooking or prepping freezer meals from anyone before but am THRILLED to have found you & learn from you!! Can’t wait to try these! BTW, do you pick meals based on meats that are on sale that week? And how many meals do you try to keep in freezer at any given time?
Tiffany says
Thanks, Angela. I don’t choose meals based on sales, but it’s a good idea. I like to have something stashed away in the freezer all the time, either cooked hamburger or chicken that’s ready to use in a casserole or soup. Or sometimes whole meals that are ready to go. I don’t always have my freezer stocked though. But every once in a while, I concentrate on refilling it. This is one of those refill times!

Tiffany, I am so glad I popped over today! This is just what I need to do now that our homeschool year has started back. I am drowning with both homeschool and work and cooking is the first thing that goes for me.
I just purchased the meal plans for the year and I cannot wait to start using them. Thank you!!
Tiffany says
Thanks, Amanda! I pray that the drowning feeling quickly passes and you start swimming soon And for me too! I relate to that drowning feeling. The beginning of the school year is so hard!
ChiTown Girl says
Tiffany! You are adorable! I don’t know what you were worried about, this video is awesome.
Thanks for all the great meal ideas. =)
Tiffany says
Thank you so much! I may just find the (en)couragement to do more videos!
Joy Carlton says
You did a great job with the video! I love your site. Wish you lived close by so we could visit. You look like me in the kitchen, don’t really measure just dump things in! Wonderful!
Tiffany says
Thanks, Joy! Learning to measure so I had better recipes to share was a big hurdle for me. I do usually just dump things in, unless I’m creating to share the recipe 🙂
The Everyday Contessa says
Thank you for this! I sometimes get stumped on what to make next in the slow cooker, and this will help out a lot!
Laura says
Good for you doing this video. I’m the same way about pictures so I know how much nerve it must’ve taken to do this. That being said, I know I’m not the only one who appreciates all of the tips, recipes and stories that you share. My kids are in their 20s now, but your tips are still helpful for someone who works from home and easily gets overwhelmed by the day. Love the slow cooker cooking the best! Wish I would have had your website when my kids were little and we were homeschooling! Thanks for all that you do 🙂
Tina says
This was great, especially for a newer cook who might be intimidated by meal planning and freezer cooking. You make it look easy.

Loved the video! I am a very visual person, so I like to see things like this. You make it look easy! Thanks!

Are these recipes available on your site, or just for members? I love cooking with my slow cooker but hadn’t even thought of doing it with freezer meals!
Tiffany says
Marlene, the recipes are available on the site. You can find them listed at the end of this post. I did use different meats in a couple of the recipes, but that’s an easy switch. The members get the printable recipes, grocery lists and cooking tips in addition to the menus. But everyone is welcome to use the recipes and ideas!

Love your approach to freezing the entire crockpot meal. No more frantic mornings! Lovely hot meal ready for the end of the workday. I’ve taken to shopping after the sale flyers, prepping (washing, cutting and chopping.) that day. The next day is prepping the freezer bag meals. My husband has to have lower sodium so I tend to make my own sauces (no canned soups) but the process is only a little bit longer. Thank you for your inspiration! You are darling!

I have been doing this for about 6 months now. it is a life saver! With one in college, one in middle school, and both of us working full-time, it has saved us from being home at 5PM and asking “what’s for supper”.
I go to work before 6AM. I lay one of these out in the sink. When our college aged daughter gets up for school, she thaws it one minute in the microwave just to loosen it from the Ziploc. Then, she thrown it in the crock for me on low. it is ready when we all pile back in the door. 🙂
Best idea ever for this family! Thanks for posting!

Can you tell me ABOUT how much your weekly meal plans cost? I’m partiularly looking at your September month.
Tiffany says
Jen, you can find out the costs and more info on this page. Members have access to one month at a time, but each month has a new slow cooker freezer meal week. Let me know if you have other questions.

Thank you great meals thanks again
Tricia says
Hey! Love the recipes! Quick question. …you mention having cooked hamburger and chicken in the freezer for casseroles and recipes and such and what I am wondering is I supposed a “stupid” question…its fast enough to cook and then throw in the freezer but the point of having ready made freezer items is to be able to use them quickly, right? How in the world do you thaw them/use them once they’re frozen solid in the freezer?! It takes me two days (in the fridge) to thaw anything which is why I haven’t tried my hand at freezer meals/stocking…help me understand how to actually use the items once theyre frozen!!!!!! Of course, Im aware of how to put a bagged freezer meal into the crock pot. ..Im more curious about things like fully cooked grilled chicken, etc.
Tiffany says
Tricia, the cooked hamburger and chicken thaw out very quickly in the microwave. I give it 1 minute, then check and often add another minute or two. That’s enough to get it loosened up to add to a recipe.
Lowen says
This is great! My mother suffers from Alzheimer’s and I like to stock my parents up with meals that my father can prepare.
Having all the ingredients in one bag to throw in the crockpot makes this easy peazie. Now I can rest assured that they are both eating well.
Tiffany says
That’s such a nice way of taking care of your parents. All the best to you and them.
Dana says
I watched several of your videos….I am hooked on freezer meals now! I just sent hubby and the kids to costco with a list of things to get the ball rolling. Thanks!
