The idea for Brownies ala Mode with Wild Berry Sauce came to me when I was out with Jim on a date night.  We like to go to Ted’s Montana Grill for dinner together.  The restaurant isn’t too loud and the high back booths are private.  It’s a place where we can have a conversation, something that’s a challenge at home sometimes.
The last time we were in there, the waitress gave us a dessert menu. Â We were stuffed, but I wanted to look over the menu anyway. Â The restaurant has nice theming and I wondered if they would have desserts that fit the wild, out-west theme. Â I was surprised to see that most of the desserts didn’t fit at all. Â I told Jim I was surprised by that. Â He asked what I would serve.
And that’s when I came up with this idea.
Deep chocolate brownies, a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a lightly sweetened mixed berry sauce over it all.
This is so easy to make at home. Â It would make a great dessert for Valentine’s Day or a dinner with company. Â But it’s also simple enough for a plain old Tuesday night.
Here’s what you’ll need: Â
I used a box mix for the brownies, but if you have a favorite homemade brownie recipe you could use that instead. Â Frozen mixed berries are readily available in the freezer section of the grocery. Â The berries are not only easy to use, they elevate plain brownies to decadent dessert.
