apple pecan sticky rolls done close

Oh, how I wish I could pull this out of the computer screen.  I made them last night, ate two and I’ve been craving more ever since.  I’d had a bag of frozen roll dough tucked in my freezer for a while now, waiting for the perfect inspiration.  It was worth the wait.

I found a recipe for Apple Pull Apart Rolls and tweaked it. I swapped out brown sugar for white, increased the sweet gooey stuff, added pecans and spiced it up a bit.  Oh my!  These are fit for Christmas morning.  But they’re easy enough for a plain old Tuesday night.

  • frozen roll dough, thawed – I used 10 balls
  • 1 stick butter, melted (ignore the partial stick, you’ll need a whole stick)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • 1 apple, peeled and diced
  • 1/3-1/2 cup chopped pecans

Place the rolls in a greased pan.  I used a large pie plate.  You could also use a square baking pan.  You might only be able to fit 9 rolls. Sprinkle the apple pieces and nuts over the rolls.

Mix the melted butter, brown sugar and spices together.  Pour this mixture over all the rolls.  Let rise until double in size.  Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes, or until the rolls are done.

Here’s how they looked after coming out of the oven:

I flipped them upside down on a plate to serve them.  Here’s a picture of the finished product and now I’m going to the kitchen to make more.  This might be our dinner tonight 😉

  1. Are the frozen roll dough balls from a store? Can’t buy them here…. any suggestions for a recipe I can make and freeze as I like the idea of having some in the freezer!

Or even just for this because these look yummy 🙂
