Need to satisfy an extra big snack craving? This is your recipe. It makes a bunch. And I warn you – if you start munching it, you won’t be able to stop. I adapted the recipe from an old Taste of Home magazine. The original called for Crispix Cereal, which I couldn’t find. Do they even make that anymore? I also changed a few other things.
Here’s what you’ll need:
cinnamon graham crackers, broken into bite-size pieces (I used two of the 3 packs that came in the box)
1 large box of rice chex cereal
a generous cup of pretzels
1 cup pecans
2/3 cup butter
1/2 cup honey
1 bag butterscotch chips
Combine the crackers, pretzels, nuts and cereal in a large bowl. In a microwave safe bowl, melt the butter and honey together. Drizzle this over the mix and stir to combine. Put it out onto two large cookie sheets that have been sprayed with cooking spray. Bake for 12-15 minutes at 350 degrees. Stir several times during the cooking. (Warning – cereal dropped on the oven burner stinks)
Cool the mix completely before stirring in the butterscotch chips. Store in an air tight container.
Now I need to go put the lid on the bowl of mix the kids left sitting next to me.

Tracy – I’m not sure as I haven’t tried but a slow cooker is eenlstiasly the same thing as cooking something in the oven on a low temp for a long period of time. If you have a lidded casserole dish, like a dutch oven, you can cook it in that in the oven. I would guess about 250 degrees. Hope it works out for you!

If only I had chex cereal and pretzels!! D:
