I love to cook with wine, but I don’t love drinking it. Â I’ve tried to like it. Â Pairing wine and with food (especially chocolate!) sounds like foodie fun. Â But I just can’t seem to acquire a taste for it.
That means when I buy wine to cook with, I have a lot left. Â I’ve been in the habit of freezing wine for several years, but I’ve never found the perfect container for freezing. Â Ice cube trays are too tedious. Â Zip top bags sometimes leak.
I’m not sure why I never thought to just pour it into a plastic container before. Â The wine doesn’t freeze solid. Â You can scoop it out with a spoon and pop the container back in the freezer. Â Perfect!
Do you like cooking with wine?

I use cooking wine because wine in my house doesn’t stay around long enough lol.
Freeze wine? Never any left at my house. Matter-of-fact, I have a recipe for grilling a turkey breast that calls for “a good friend and a bottle of wine”, cause it takes so long and you have to turn and baste. 😉
What I like to do since I don’t like white wine is buy the small bottles (or splits) for cooking and they tend to be the right amount for dishes. Anyway, that is my 2 cents!
I don’t know why I’ve never thought about freezing wine! Great idea, b/c I feel so bad dumping it down the drain. (Not that I have that problem very often!)
Hey Tiffany;
I had to tell you about something which I tried about a month ago while at Trader Joe’s. They had some Cheese that had bits of Chocolate with it, and were serving it with different wines. I thought that is odd! (Chocolate Cheese) But, it really tasted different. (I bought a couple of chunks of the Cheese and some Wines to give to hard to buy for Friends…..They liked it!!!)
If you have a Trader Joe’s close by, you might want to try the Cheese with a sip of whatever wines they are tasting.
In fact, you could have a Picnic with fresh Cheeses, Fruits, Bread, Nuts, Salty meats, and Wine! That is one way to enjoy sipping Wine!! 🙂
Sunny, that does sound interesting. We have a new Trader Joe’s in town. I’ll have to try it!
