Ingredients
For the shortcake:

white
whole-wheat or pastry flour

Tbs.
sugar
1
Tbs.
baking powder
½
tsp.
salt
½
cup
butter
1
egg
beaten
⅔
cup
milk
3-4
cups
strawberries
sliced
½
cup
sugar
1
container
whipped cream
or use homemade
For the whipped cream:
1
cup
heavy whipping cream
2
Tbs.
powdered sugar
1-2
tsp.
vanilla extract
Instructions
For the strawberry shortcake:
Cut all the dry ingredients with the butter.
Stir in the eggs and milk. The batter will be thick.
Put it into a square 8x8 or 9x9 pan that you’ve greased.
Bake at 450° for 15-18 minutes.
Stir the strawberries and sugar together and let sit for several minutes until the sugar is dissolved and the strawberries are juicy.
Serve with strawberries sweetened with sugar and top with whipped cream.
For the whipped cream:
Place the sugar into the mixing bowl of an electric mixer (or use a hand mixer) and add the whipping cream.
Mix with an electric mixer just until the cream reaches stiff peaks.
Add in vanilla, and gently mix in.
