Instant Pot Mashed Sweet Potatoes

  • lbs. sweet potatoes
  • cups water
  • salt, to taste
  • ½ -1 stick butter
  • 2 -3 Tbs. brown sugar


  • Wash potatoes.
  • Add the rack to the pressure cooker and place the potatoes on top of the rack. Add a dollop of butter on top. Pour the water over the potatoes.
  • Using the manual setting, set the cook time for 10 minutes. Do a natural release for 5 minutes followed by a quick pressure release.
  • Remove the pot from the pressure cooker and drain the potatoes.
  • Slice potatoes in half and scoop out the middles.
  • Place in a bowl with brown sugar and butter.
  • Smash and stir with a spoon until well combined.
