Since it’s January and people are interested in organizing their homes, I thought I’d share one of my favorite ideas. We moved into a new house last spring and I had to come up with a new system for my spices and seasonings. Those little bottles can be a challenge to organize. After trying a few things that didn’t work, I popped an over-the-door shoe rack with clear pockets on the pantry door and found success. I organize the spices by type of food they are usually used in. Baking spices together, Mexican together, Italian…
I love over-the-door shoe racks. I’ve got one on the inside of the coat closet full of school and office supplies. I thought about putting one on the garage door with tools that get used often, glue, tape etc., but I’m not sure about giving my kids that much access to adhesives like super glue and duct tape.
Yes, there are two half bottles of oregano in that pocket. First time I noticed that.
Happy New Year and happy organizing, no matter which room you’re tackling. (Or maybe the New Year doesn’t make you want to organize something – I’m not trying to guilt you into anything!)
