What I’ve Been Reading in the Blogosphere

I thought I’d share a few of my non-food blog reads, just for something different this weekend.

I’ve been missing Disney.  We went at the end of May and that seems like a long time ago now.

Can you guess where I am with my kids in this picture?  Pixie dust for the person who gets it right!

Favorite Disney Spots Online

Disboards.com is a forum, not a blog.  There is a ton of great info over there though.  They have a fantastic Budget Board with ideas for saving money in all areas of your budget, not just the Disney trip.  They also have a fantastic Photography board.

If you are lucky to be planning a trip to Disney, you might also want to check out Mousesavers and Tour Guide Mike.  Both are resources I use when planning trips.  You can also get your questions answered at the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.

Recently, I discovered the blog of one of the Moms Panel members – Zannaland.  It’s a fun read of all things Disney.

Decorating Blogs

Prompted by the fact that my boys broke the only end table we had in the family room, I decided we needed some decorating to happen in there.  I am not a decorator at all, so I turned to blogs for help.

The broken end tables led to the thought that I don’t like our entertainment center, which is from Sauder (you know, that pressed board, put-it-together-yourself stuff) that is 15 years old.  But looking at the blogs I realized that the newer entertainment centers are designed for flat screen TVs, not the old box that we have complete with rabbit ears.

Jim is not going for the idea that a broken end table leads to buying a new flat screen TV.  He glued the table back together.  Oh well.  One of these days the room will get a re-do.  In the mean time, I’ve enjoyed browsing at:

Blogging has required that I learn all kinds of new skills.  Here are some sites that I turn to in my quest for blogging knowledge:

I hope you have a great weekend!  Did you guess where the picture at the beginning of the post was taken?

  1. I would guess that you’re in or near the line for Kilimanjaro Safaris at Animal Kingdom in Disney World. We love Disney World – our next trip is September 25th!

  2. You need to check out http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/ to your Disney blog roll. It has great reviews and tips for dining in the parks.

We are going back to Disney in December. It is our favorite time of year to go.

    • Steph, thanks for the link! I’ve visited the Disney Food blog before, but it’s been a while. It’s a great blog!
Have fun on your December trip. I’ve always wanted to see the Christmas decorations. We were there once right before Thanksgiving week and they were putting up some of the decorations, but it was still a bit early to see them all.

  3. hi! i discovered your blog from the ungourmet, you’ve got some beautiful recipes here! i just tried your pepper jack chicken, delicious!! thanks for the great dinner!

  4. Having never been to Disney I have no idea where the picture is taken. Off to check out some of the links and I’ll have to pass the disney ones to a friend who is going.

  5. I think the picture is in AK in Dinoland.

I was just thinking I needed to check your blog for vacation food suggestions. We’re going to Disney World for a whole month in November-December and staying in a condo in Windsor Hills. My husband works from home, so he’ll take vacation days for some of the time and work some of the time. The poor guy will probably have to do things like turn the crock pot to Keep Warm when the food’s done while the rest of us are touring.

    • Amy, you’re right about the photo location. It’s right across from Triceratop Spin.
A whole month in Disney? Be still, my heart! Wow, that will be a fun time. We stayed in Windsor Hills on our last trip. I hope you have a fabulous time!

  6. Thanks for the info!!! We’re going to Disney in January!!! Can’t wait :O)
Love your blog – I’ve made many of your recipes with great success!!! Keep ’em coming!!!
