Menu, Grocery List, Recipes Year 3 Week 18 and Menu Planning Live Chat!

I’m excited to tell you that we’re going to be having a live chat, right here on Wednesday 3/14, 9pm Eastern.  We’re talking about all things menu planning – how you put your menu together, ideas for meals, sticking to a menu, getting used to using one, etc.  I’m hosting with Rachel from Following in My Shoes, Shannon from For the Mommas, and Liz from Hoosier Homemade.

We’ll chat right on this post on Wednesday.  Hope you can join us!  You can also join the chat in the International Delight Community.

Spring is almost here!

We’re back to daylight savings time.

Outdoor soccer has started and indoor soccer ended.

Spring break is coming up for lots of folks.  We are going to skip spring break so we can be done with school earlier.  I’d rather have an extra week in May.  Just one of the joys of homeschooling.

How about you? What are your spring break plans?

One tip for the menu this week:  If you buy a large chicken, you can have it for dinner one night and have enough to put in the freezer for using in casseroles or soup in future weeks.

As always, the menu includes 6 dinners and 1 dessert.  Serving suggestions are included in bold on the recipes and in curly brackets {} on the grocery list.

Honey Dijon Pork Chops and Apples in the Slow Cooker, steamed green veggie, salad

Chicken Lettuce Wraps,frozen egg rolls

Italian Seasoned Salt Chicken in the Slow Cooker, steamed green veggie, baked potatoes

Garden Frittata, Blueberry Muffins with Orange Glaze, fresh fruit

Chipped Beef Gravy over Cornbread, salad or fresh fruit

Enchiladas with Chili Tomato Sauce, salad, chips and salsa

Menu, Grocery List, Recipes – Year 2, Week 8

It’s Monday, so I’ve got a new menu and grocery list ready for you to print.

This menu takes advantage of a few “planned leftovers”.

One night, you’ll cook a whole chicken in the slow cooker.  Buy the biggest chicken you can find that will fit in your slow cooker.  Use the leftovers in Cheesy Chicken and Rice Casserole.  If you’re lucky enough to have even more leftovers, bag it up and pop it in the freezer for a meal later on.

There are two recipes that use diced ham.  You can buy a small chunk of ham and dice it yourself, or buy a pack that is already diced.  Use most of it in the Ham and Potato Chowder, but save a handful or two for Scrambled Eggs, Ham and Muenster Skillet.

Here’s what’s on the menu this week:

Menu, Grocery List, Recipes – Week 50

weeklymenus

It must be getting late in the summer because I’ve started prepping for school.  Just a few more weeks before it all starts up again.

We are having a great summer, but I want to squeeze in a few more projects (cleaning and painting) before school starts.

I hope you are having a wonderful summer too.

I’ve included some grill recipes this week again and also a slow cooker meal of a whole chicken.  Make this early in the week and you can use the left over chicken in the Cheesy Chicken and Rice Casserole.

As always, there are 6 dinners and 1 dessert.  Serving suggestions are included on the recipes in bold and on the grocery list in curly brackets {}.

Weekly Menu, Grocery List, Recipes – Week 10

weeklymenus

One of the questions I get asked most frequently is how to print the recipes here on Eat at Home.  Every recipe included in the weekly menus is in a printable format.  So even if you don’t want to use the grocery list and menu, you can still print for the recipes.

With 10 weeks of menus, that’s a lot to choose from.  I format the recipes so they each get their own page.  That way you can easily file them in your own organizer for quick reference later.

For now, if you want to print a recipe not included in one of the menus, the easiest thing to do is copy and paste the text into a word processing document.

Back to this week’s menu.  You get 6 dinners, including 2 crockpot meals.  And an awesome dessert that will make everybody in your house happy.

Low Cost Menu/Grocery List/Recipes

grocery-list-money

I pulled the recipes for this week’s menu from my list of Low Cost Meals.   Not only are the meals inexpensive, but they are quick to fix.

A few notes about the Low Cost Meals Menu:

  • Once again, the menu includes a slow cooker meal
  • You’ll double (or even triple) your effort one day by making dinner + extra for the freezer
  • I’ve included another dessert recipe, which is also inexpensive
  • Recipes include Serving Suggestions.  Those that are in bold are included in the grocery list in curly brackets {}.
  • Several meals are stretched by serving them with Depression Era Bread.  Even if you’ve never worked with yeast or made homemade bread, please give this a try.  It’s easy and the pay off is worth it.
