Weekly Menu + Grocery List Year 3 Week 48

This week seems to have a theme of honey, but I promise that all the recipes taste very different from each other.

The menu this week could be a great opportunity to stock the freezer.  Italian Sausage and Spinach Stuffed Shells make enough to freeze a pan and have a pan to eat.

Both the Reuben Calzone and Mel’s Diner Chili will freeze well.  You’ll need to double the ingredients for these, if you want to have enough to eat once and still freeze some for later.

And, of course the Cheddar Chive Biscuits are great to put away in the freezer.

Here’s the full menu for this week:

Reuben Calzone, Quick Cole Slaw

Skillet Chicken, Peppers and Tomatoes, salad

Mel’s Diner Chili, Cheddar Chive Freezer Biscuits

Salmon Patties, Mac & Cheese, favorite green veggie

Crockpot Cantonese Sweet and Sour Chicken over rice

Italian Sausage and Spinach Stuffed Shells, salad

Hot Fudge and Caramel Chocolate Poke Cake

We’re in the middle of a month long series called 31 Days of Cooking Short Cuts for Cheaters.  Click that link to find the other posts so far in this series.  Being able to print a grocery list without having to plan a grocery list is a huge short cut for me each week!

Free Weekly Menu + Grocery List – Year 3 Week 45 – Low Cost Menu

I’m pretty sure that the biggest cheater tip I have is the free weekly menus + grocery lists. There are almost 3 years of them, free for the printing. You don’t get much more time saving than being able to skip the menu planning and shopping list making.

I love printing off that list each week and taking it to the store. For a while, I didn’t use the menus I publish here, because I’m always trying out new recipes. But what I’ve learned is that the lists use such common ingredients, it is easy to adapt the meal plan as I need to each week.

If you’ve never tried using the Print. Shop. Cook. feature, you might give it a try. And this week’s menu not only helps you cheat by saving time, but all the recipes are from my Low Cost Meals list, so you can save money this week too.

As always, you get 6 dinners and 1 dessert. Serving suggestions are included in bold on the recipes and in curly brackets {} on the grocery list.

Here’s what is on the menu this week:

Pepperoni Pizza Pasta, salad

Smoked Sausage, Cabbage and Oat Soup, Cornbread

Slow Cooker Beans for the Freezer, tortillas and taco fixings, chips and salsa

Bread Eggs, fresh fruit, milk or yogurt

Mini Deep Dish Pizzas, salad

Ham and Pineapple Fried Rice

Chocolate Cobbler in the Slow Cooker

Free Weekly Menu + Grocery List – Year 3 Week 43 – Stock the Freezer (and my birthday wish request)

Monday is my birthday!

And I have a birthday wish to ask you.

I need some votes.  Well, my recipe needs some votes.

My Pork Carnitas in the Slow Cooker recipe is in Mr. Food’s Search for the Ultimate Weeknight Meal contest.  Voting opens on Monday and I would love it if you would pop over and give me your vote.

Some of you may be reading this on Sunday night, but votes in the contest won’t start counting until Monday so you’ll need to wait until then if you want it to count.  You can vote once per browser (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer etc.).  If you’re like me and use different browsers at different times, feel free to vote in all of the them.  Of course, you are probably more normal than me and don’t use lots of different browsers, sometimes at the same time.

The voting will be open until September 28.

Here’s a link to the main voting page, if you’d like to see the other fantastic recipes in the running to be Mr. Food’s Ultimate Weeknight Meal.

You can vote for my recipe here.  Thanks so much!

Now for this week’s menu.  If you double a few of these recipes, you can easily have extra dinners stashed away in your freezer for later.

Double the baked spaghetti.  Bake one casserole and freeze the other unbaked for later.

Double the Spicy Chicken Pizza and freeze half the filling for later.

Double the Spicy Chicken Soup (which doesn’t taste a thing like the Spicy Chicken Pizza).  Put half in the slow cooker and half in the freezer.  When you’re ready to use the frozen soup, just thaw enough to get it out of the container and put it in the slow cooker to heat all day.  Come home to a hearty dinner with no work on your part.

Here’s what is on the menu this week:

Crunchy Chicken Taco Salad

Baked Spaghetti, garlic bread, salad

South of the Border Skillet, Cucumber and Tomato Salad, chips and salsa

Croque Monsieur Sandwiches, Shaker Tomato Soup

Spicy Garlic Chicken Pizza, salad

Slow Cooker Spicy Chicken Soup, Cheddar Muffins

Apple Crisp in the Slow Cooker

Free Weekly Menu + Grocery List Year 3 Week 40

We spent the weekend at a soccer tournament in Cedarville, Ohio.  We had a great time watching the boys play and visiting with friends.  Jim’s parents were able to come down to watch too.  They braved the heat on Saturday with us.

In case you are near Cedarville, you need to know about a little ice cream place called Mom and Dad’s.  It’s directly across the street from the campus entrance.  If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you may have seen a picture from this place.  They have 24+ soft serve flavors!  We sampled English Toffee, Cappuccino and Grape (my youngest daughters choice).  Fun stuff and totally worth the visit.

The menu this week has several recipes that can be doubled and stashed in the freezer.  The Mini Deep Dish Pizzas and 50s Prime Time Meatloaf are both candidates for stocking up.

As always, you get 6 dinners and 1 dessert on the menu.  Serving suggestions are included in bold on the recipes and in curly brackets {} on the grocery list.

Menu, Grocery List, Recipes – Year 3 Week 38

School starts this week for us.  This marks the 16th year that I’ve geared up for homeschooling.

It’s so much easier now that I just have kids in 4th, 8th and 12th grades.  My son who is a senior is taking a couple of dual enrollment classes at the community college, so my teaching responsibilities with him are few.  And my oldest daughter is starting her junior year at UK.

The hardest year for me (aside from every time we added a new baby to the family) was the year I had one in preschool, grade school, middle school and high school.  I just felt a little spread thin that year trying to meet such a variety of needs.

I can’t say that we’ve done it all perfectly for the past 15 years (far from it!), but the journey has been worth it.

For all of us getting back into the school schedule – whether it’s public, private, home, college, etc. – many prayers for a year of adventures learning together.

One of my biggest helps during the school year, is printing the weekly menu and grocery list.  No planning required and I know what dinner is going to be all week.  I’ve also been training my oldest son to do the grocery shopping for me.  He’s pretty good at it!

Here’s what is on the menu this week:

African Pulled Beef Sandwiches in the Slow Cooker with Yogurt Mint Sauce, Roasted Sweet & White Potatoes, watermelon

Honey Lemon Pepper Salmon, Garlic Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes, favorite green veggie

Chicken and Broccoli “Stir Fry” in the Slow Cooker, rice

Garden Frittata, Blueberry Muffins with Orange Glaze, fresh fruit

Enchiladas with Chili-Tomato Sauce, salad, chips & salsa

BBQ Chicken with Southwestern Cornbread Stuffing, favorite green veggie

Coconut Cream and Chocolate Dessert
