Ingredient Spotlight: Hot Sauce

Jim loves hot sauce.  The hotter, the better.  I even gave him hot sauce for a Christmas present and he loved it.

The rest of us don’t like our food to cause us to sweat.  Or our tongues to tingle from the heat.  A little goes a long way for us.

Sweet and Spicy Chicken Legs

This recipe was a bit of an experiment.  I wanted something that was sweet, yet spicy.  Thus, the recipe name.  However, the recipe both succeeded and failed.

The successes:  Easy, moist chicken legs that browned up nicely in the oven.  They did have a slightly sweet flavor.

The fail:  There was no hint of spiciness.

Red Beans and Rice with Ham

This recipe is a great way to use leftover ham.  You could also make it with smoked sausage if you like.  I had grilled ham slices the day before and needed to use up the extra.  The recipe makes enough to feed about 8 people, so if your family is smaller you may want to only make half.

Vietnamese Style Chicken Noodle Soup
