A few weeks ago I shared that we were planning to replace our kitchen counters. I ended up choosing Formica FX Crema Mascarello. I love it! Our old counters were very dark. These are nice a light. And I love the edge on them.
We also got a new sink and faucet. One side of the sink is slightly bigger than the other. A 9×13 pan will fit flat in it.
Here’s what the counters look like close up. They don’t have a repeating pattern. Formica used an 8 or 10 foot photo of granite to make them, so there’s no repeat. I love the all the neutral colors in them. I’m actually a fan of laminate counters. They’re easy to take care of and less costly than other types.
I also replaced our old dishtowels and potholders with new, clean ones. And we bought a new rug for the back door from Target.
Probably the cheapest thing we did that made the most difference was to replace all the light bulbs. We’d been using some that just weren’t putting out much light. Swapping those out for better bulbs made a huge difference in how the kitchen looked. (In these photos, all the lights are turned off though to avoid the weird yellow tint they give to photos.)
The next thing we need to do is organize the pantry. It’s a mess. There’s really no excuse for it though. I just need to get in there and organize things.
Here are a few posts that caught my eye on that topic this week:
Musings of a Housewife recently did a fantastic post on pantry organization. She used a professional organizer to help and shares great tips. It strikes me that she now has twice as many shelves as my pantry does, which does seem like it would help a lot.
