Danimals Rally for Recess – Chance to Win $20,000 for Your School Playground!

There’s something about swinging high into the sky, above the heads of everyone else on the playground that is exhilarating. As a young girl, swinging ranked at the top of my list of things to do at recess. I pumped the swing until the chain tension slacked and it seemed as though I could swing right over the top bar.

Sometimes I would swing slow, leaning back to let my long hair trail the ground, only the sky in my view. Or I would stand on the swing or jump off, challenging a friend to jump with me.

Recess was an important part of my primary school experience.  It was a time to meet new friends, play with best friends, take turns, learn to get along…and most important, swing.

What about you? Were you like me, rushing to finish the lunch in your Holly Hobby lunch box in an effort to be first on the swings? Or did you enjoy games of kickball or climbing on the jungle gym?

In the past twenty years, children have lost an average of 8 hours of recess a week. Danimals Rally for Recess is a national initiative designed to create healthy competition, pitting school against school.
