Graeter’s Ice Cream Giveaway!

To quote my 12 year old son,

Now I know what God eats for dessert!

Oh my goodness.  I {heart} ice cream.  A lot.  And even though I’ve eaten all kinds of premium brands (I’m kind of an ice cream snob), I’ve never had any other ice cream that even compares to Graeter’s.

It’s rich and creamy.  Like, after you eat it, your lips feel slightly buttery.  That kind of creamy.

The flavors are pure and fresh and pronounced.  Vanilla tastes like real vanilla.

The strawberry has small pieces of fresh berries that taste as if they were picked in a plot near the field where the dairy cows graze.  They must run with a bucket of strawberries and pail of milk straight to the ice cream makers and start churning.

And the chocolate chunks…. love! They are so smooth, they just melt in your mouth.  Divine. [Read more...]

Pan Fried Steak and Steak Burgers with Red Wine Onions and Laura’s Lean Giveaway!

One of my daughter’s male friends told her that the way to catch a guy is to cook him a steak.  I asked her if she told him how to catch a girl.  She said, she didn’t know how, but it would be harder than just a cooking a steak.  (In a later conversation, we agreed that making Nutella Strudel for her, might work.)

I do know that it made my sons and husband very happy to sit down to a meal of steak and our poor man’s version, Steak Burgers.  The Red Wine Onions made them both even more delicious.

There’s a lot going on in this post – 3 recipes and a giveaway! – so keep reading… [Read more...]

Family Memories and Popcorn – and a Popcorn Giveaway

Flipping through family photos and munching popcorn together is almost as much fun as creating the memories.

Recently, I was contacted by KODAK Gallery asking if I would try out their new SMARTFIT technology for creating photobooks.

My first thought was to create a cookbook of family favorites.  I wasn’t able to figure out how to use SMARTFIT to insert that much text though, so I went with the traditional family photo book. [Read more...]

Every Cook Needs a Good Knife – A Giveaway!

The most important tool in your kitchen is a good, sharp knife.  Without one, you’ll be very frustrated trying to prep foods for cooking.  Chopping veggies and meats should not be time consuming.  A sharp knife is the secret to making quick work of the task.

The photo above is my collection of Rada Cutlery knives.  I love them all, but the Cook’s Knife (3rd from the top) is the one I reach for most often.  The knives not only hold an edge, but they also take an edge.  Meaning the can be sharpened easily.

I’m so excited to get to host this giveaway for Rada Cutlery.  The company is providing a Starter Set of their knives to the winner. [Read more...]

White Chocolate Brownies and Tate’s Bake Shop Giveaway

My name for these bars would be White Chocolate Cranberry Bars, but the Tate’s Bake Shop cookbook by Kathleen King calls them White Chocolate Brownies.

By either name, they are delicious.  The bars are dense and sweet, but not too sweet.  You can definitely taste the white chocolate in these and the cranberries are a perfect complement.

Here’s what you’ll need to make them: [Read more...]

Contest Winner, Technical Difficulties and a Few Links

I’ve got a couple of things to cover in this post, but first up a big thank you to Plan to Eat for providing the 1 year subscription to their menu planning service and for being a new sponsor of Eat at Home!

And the winner is…. jodi!  Look for an email in your inbox and congratulations!

Technical Difficulties

I’ve had several technical difficulties with the site recently.  You may have had trouble getting my site to load or find that it loads slowly.  I know I’ve had problems with that.  It’s been intermittent and I think I may be getting to the root issue.  Hopefully, it will be fixed very soon.

There has also been some trouble with subscribers.  First, some email subscribers were getting duplicate emails.  If that happened to you, just unsubscribe from one of them using the link at the very bottom of the email.

Now, I seem to be missing about 1000 of you who subscribed by RSS.  [Read more...]
