I’ve been wanting to share this book for you for a while now. It’s written by 4 moms, who have a combined 35+ kids.

These ladies have parenting solutions for you. They share what has worked for them over the years of parenting their large families. The answers are thoughtful, humble and sometimes humorous.

Even if you have a small or medium-sized family, you’ll find the wisdom shared in this ebook to be practical.

Buy the eBook! You can get it for 50% off the regular price of $7.99 by using the code: EATATHOME

You can also enter to win a copy! Just leave a comment here saying how many kids you have (you don’t have to have a large family to benefit from the advice or even have kids at all – it would make a great gift for someone for Mother’s Day!). Winner will be chosen Monday morning and announced on the Eat at Home Facebook page.

Ingredient Spotlight links!

There were all kinds of recipes shared this week in Ingredient Spotlight: Beans. Here are a few that caught my eye:

This Deep Dish Cookie Pie from Mo’ Betta looks amazing! And it has garbanzo beans in it!

Jim would love for me to make Huevos Rancheros from Cookin’ Mimi.

Baked Black Beans with Chorizo from The Sweets Life looks like a good casserole.

Wet Bean Burritos from Pocket Change Gourmet look delicious.

Refried Beans without the Refry from For the Love of Grub is a recipe I’ve heard people rave about for a long time. I have got to give it a try. You use the slow cooker and the beans are freezable. You can make a bunch and there are all kinds of variations.

Have a great weekend!

Would you believe that delicious fish took only 2 ingredients? It’s true!

The secret is Kraft Fresh Take. They are a cheese and crumb (some have panko crumbs, some bread crumbs) mix. You can do all kinds of things with them. I chose to do a simple coating on tilalpia and then bake. It made a crispy crust on the fish and added lots of flavor too. My family loved it!

On the back of the package I found a recipe for Crab Cakes that sounded marvelous. I’m going to have give that one a try soon.

You can find many other recipes for Kraft Fresh Takes on their site. They all look easy and delicious (and they aren’t all for fish either, those are just 2 that caught my eye).

$50 VISA gift card giveaway!

Kraft Fresh Takes is going to give one reader a $50 VISA gift card! Awesome, right?

To enter:

Winner will be chosen randomly on Monday morning 4/16 and announced on the Eat at Home Facebook page.

I have met Dana a couple of times at the Savvy Blogging Summit conferences. She is a funny and down to earth and friendly. She’s written a guide for developing 4 new habits in 4 weeks to find real hope for your home.

The book’s tagline is “Not for the mildly disorganized.” And she means that. This book is not for everyone.

From her website:

If you’ve ever wondered how someone could sleep at night knowing there were dirty dishes in the sink . . . . DON’T buy this e-book.

If, at the end of a long day, you mindlessly put your dirty clothes in the laundry hamper and hang your jacket neatly in the closet . . . DON’T buy this e-book.

If you’ve never experienced heart palpitations at the sound of an unexpected doorbell . . . DON’T buy this e-book.

This book is “understanding the basics of what it takes to keep your home out of Disaster Status”.

This book may not be for you. But if it is for you, you can win a copy by leaving a comment on this post. Tell me what your biggest cleaning challenge is. (I revealed on Facebook the other day that my challenge lately is remembering to move the laundry from washer to dryer.) The book is also on sale right now through the end of Feb. for just $4!

Weekend Links and Seedy Links

There were some delicious recipes shared on Ingredient Spotlight this week. Here are a few that caught my eye:

Pineapple Poppy Seed Dressing from Debbi Does Dinner sounds wonderful.

This Sesame Chicken from Siggy Spice sounds right up our alley.

Chocolate Mojo Bars – oh, yeah! from Inside BruCrew Life.

Napa Cabbage Salad from For the Love of Grub sounds similar to a salad I ate at a potluck recently. It was wonderful!

There were two versions of Poppy Seed Chicken Casserole, which I’d never heard of before. The classic version from Getting Freedom and a lightened up version with Havarti from Vanderbilt Wife.

If you have allergies (or have a family member who does) you will want to check out Sunbutter Surprises, cookies adapted from Peanut Butter Kiss cookies – from Cheap, Easy, Quick, Healthy.

And finally, I have a new writing gig as a contributor for Savings Lifestyle. I’ll be doing copy-cat recipes (with a few other easy, cheap recipes thrown in) over there. You may want to pop over and read my first post, Smoked Mozzarella Chicken and Penne from Olive Garden.

Super Bowl came and went with very little notice from me. I’m not into football and this year, we didn’t even have a gathering with friends. It was a quiet, normal Sunday evening at home.

But Super Bowl isn’t the biggest game of the year. At least not if you’re a college basketball fan. March Madness is on its way!

And Kentucky is ranked #1! I see a trip to the Final Four for UK!

We’ve got several UK fans in our house, but the newest (and probably the most passionate) is our 9 year old daughter. She watched her first game this year and suddenly became a full-fledged UK fan.

I think we may need to host a game-day party soon. I’m not sure what foods I’ll make, but I’m sure that the menu will include Blue Velvet Cupcakes.

No matter what sport you like to watch, I bet you’ve got some tips for hosting a great party. And I know you’d like a chance to win a 42” LG Flat Screen TV!

Tell me what tips you have for hosting a successful party for friends and family for the Big Game and be entered to win a 42” LG flat Screen TV!

My family loved this! We love all things pasta. Our weekly menu always includes at least one pasta dish.

So when Philadelphia Cooking Creme asked me to swap out one of our regular dinners with one of their recipes, I jumped at the chance. There are several recipes in their Fresh Family Favorite recipe collection. I chose this Creamy Chicken Florentine. Creamy pasta meals make my family happy. And you know how I love easy recipes. This one fits that category too.

I chose to use the Reduced Fat Savory Garlic flavor of Cooking Creme. I was afraid it might be too garlicky tasting, but it was perfect. The taste was subtle, with just the right amount of flavor.

I did make a few minor alterations to the recipe. First, I doubled it. The original recipe serves 4. Not enough for my family of 6. I also skipped the pine nuts. You can substitute slivered almonds, if you don’t want to spring for pine nuts. (I love pine nuts, but they are pricey.)

Here’s what you’ll need:

Take the goal of paying off debt, for instance. In your mind, it feels like a fuzzy, but nice idea. On paper, it’s tangible. It’s a plan. And if you keep track of it (more writing on paper) Debt Free happens. It’s no longer just a nice idea. It’s your reality.

That’s why I’m really excited about today’s giveaway!

Phoebe from Getting Freedom has written The Home Management Binder. In it you’ll find printables (places to commit your goals) on all kinds of topics:

Master Menu Plan List

Master Grocery List

Monthly Cash Flow Plan

Debt Snowball Sheet

Bill Payment Schedule

Various Cleaning Schedules

The Home Management Binder is a fantastic tool! Today I’m giving away one copy!

I’ve also got a discount code for you to use. You can get the Home Management Binder for just $5 by using the code EATATHOME. The discount is only good through Feb. 11. And if you win the giveaway, but already purchased the Binder, Phoebe will refund your money. Win-win!
