A Few Cool Cookbooks Coming Out Soon

It seems this is publishing season for cookbooks by bloggers.  Some of my favorite sites to visit have books being released this month.  I’ve added all of these to my wish list (I think I’ll send a link to this post to Jim, so he’s got some Christmas ideas for me 🙂 )

In the interest of full discloser, I don’t know any of these people personally (well, I have interviewed Stephanie O’dea here on Eat at Home, and I do follow Rea Drummond and Clara on twitter – yeah, not quite like knowing them personally) and I’m not getting anything to tell you about their books.  I just think the books are cool and I thought you might like them too.

clara's kitchenI discovered Great Depression Cooking with Clara last winter.  She has several videos filmed by her grandson, where she shares stories and foods that her family cooked during the Depression.  Clara is a treasure and I’m so thankful that her grandson followed through on this project idea with her.

Clara joined Twitter several weeks ago.  I’m thinking that there aren’t many people in their 90s who are on Twitter!

Her Depression Era Bread is one of my favorite recipes both to bake for my family and to share with you all.

Clara’s book is being released Oct. 27 and is available on pre-order from Amazon now.

crockpot 365In 2008, Stephanie O’dea took up the challenge of using a slow cooker each day of that year.  She succeeded and in the process shared many recipes with the readers of her blog, A Year of Slow Cooking.  Two of my favorite slow cooker recipes come from her site: Garlic Chicken with More Garlic and Tilapia with Garlic Cheese Sauce.

Stephanie’s book comes out October 13 and is available for pre-order now.

PW cookbookRea Drummond’s book promises to be every bit as beautiful and entertaining as her blog.  Her recipes use easily accessible ingredients and she’s got step by step photos to show how to put the recipes together.

One of my favorite PW recipes is Apricot Bars.  I’ve had a jar of apricot jam in the pantry for a long time, just waiting for an opportunity to make these again.

Pioneer Woman Cooks will be released October 27 and is available for pre-order now.

cake wrecks Cake Wrecks is not a cooking blog.  It’s a hysterical look at professional cakes that have gone wrong.  The photos are fantastically funny, but it’s Jen’s writing that brings it all together.  Whenever I start laughing at my computer, my kids come running to see the latest Cake Wreck.  (A tiny warning: sometimes Cake Wrecks is a bit PG, but she usually gives warning for those.)

The Cake Wrecks book is available now.  If you know someone who needs a good laugh, this book would make a great gift.

A Preview of Things to Come: The 1 year anniversary of Eat at Home is next week, Oct. 13.  I’ll be celebrating with a giveaway.

  2. Thank you for including me, Tiffany! I had such a fun time with this project.
Thank you for the head’s up on Clara—I am going to look her up!
    I’ve met Ree—she’s marvelous.

    xoxo steph

  3. I am so excited about the pioneer woman cookbook! I am pretty sure I can thank her for the last 10 pounds added to my body!

  4. I cant wait to meet Ree at her book signing in Dallas on 12/1/09. I cant wait to get my hands on that cookbook of hers.

  5. Clara’s cookbook sound awesome and interesting! Ree’s also does, but I think she should just continue to offer up all her recipes for free…hehe

  6. I am so excited about PW’s cookbook! I hate she isn’t doing a book signing in the South. I would stand in line to get her signature!
