http://www.seriouseats.com/2012/07/taste-test-bottled-teriyaki-sauce-what-is-the-best-brand.html

Hi Tiffany,

Thank you for touching base to try and figure out why this recipe was inedibly salty for some of us. I used Kikkoman Teriyaki - Marinade and Sauce - The Original Teriyaki. I had no idea there could be such a difference from brand to brand and was very surprised to see that Kikkoman alone has several different Teriyakis within their line. I included a link that taste tested and evaluated a few brands and also has a recipe for homemade sauce.

Respectfully,
Rebecca

I'm sorry about the saltiness. I wonder if it's the type of Teriyaki sauce. I've had some that seem more like soy sauce than what I used. Did you use the same thing I show in the photo?

Me too. Two bites was it. Had to throw it out. Way too salty. 4-5 shakes of the tereyaki sauce should be enough. Wondering if there was a misprint or typo in the amts of ingred. Will try again later and adjust

Made this a few weeks ago. It was too salty for my family - my toddler actually vomited after two bites! I used regular soy sauce and found that the pineapples soaked up a lot of the salt and were not sweet at all and the meat was pretty tough. I really wanted to like this recipe but ended up dumping 90% of it in the trash :-( Anyone looking for a simple Asian style dish could try your Honey Cashew Pork. So tasty I am working it into our regular rotation alternating chicken or pork.

I made this recipe a few nights ago. We all agreed it was way too salty. I would recommend using low sodium teriyaki sauce if they make such a thing. It was almost inedible to us.
