Waking up to hot oatmeal is a joy. And this Peaches and Cream Oatmeal is absolutely scrumptious! It only takes a few minutes to prep in the evening. I use my small slow cooker with a cheapo hack to make it programmable.
This recipe makes 4-6 servings. The leftovers heat up well in the microwave. It’s thick after being refrigerated, but just add a little milk to thin them down.
Here’s what you’ll need:
I used peaches in light syrup, but you could use heavy syrup instead if you like it sweet. My daughter and I both added a little sugar to our bowls, but it was just right for Jim without the added sugar. What can I say? We girls like our sweets.
Ingredients
- 1 cup steel cut oats
- 1 can (15 oz) sliced peaches in light syrup
- enough milk to bring liquid to 4 cups
- dash salt
Instructions
- Spray inside of crock with nonstick cooking spray.
- Put steel cut oats in crock.
- Drain can of peaches, reserving juice.
- Slice peaches in bite size pieces. Add to crock.
- Add milk to peach juice to make 4 cups. Pour into crock.
- Add dash of salt and stir to combine.
- Cook 3-4 hours on low. You can cook up to 7-8 hours, if needed.
- Serve with extra milk, if desired.

This looks DELICIOUS! I think this will be in my slowcooker tonight! (I like my oats a little on the sweeter side, too.)
YUM! This looks amazing Tiffany! I shared on FB and pinned for you

Thanks, Liz!
can this be made with Quaker old fashion Oats?? All I have in the house
Yes, you can do it with old fashioned oats. You might want to check the box for liquid/oat proportions. It may be different than the steel cut kind.
I wouldn’t recommend regular oats! This recipe is pretty close to my recipe for Apple Pie Breakfast – (http://www.cookingwithjax.com/2011/01/apple-pie-breakfast.html) and regular oats DO NOT work. They will become a soggy burned mess. If you want to make it with regular oats, I would suggest reducing the liquid and cooking the recipe on the stove top. Sounds yummy though! Great picture!
I have used old fashioned oats for slow cooker recipes. They are mushier, but still fine. I prefer the steel cut. My husband had no preference and was fine with old fashioned.
I totally love oats and eat them ALL the time for braaefkst. I make them cooked over the stove, overnight oats, braaefkst cookies, etc. I’ve never put hemp seeds in my oatmeal and that’s a great idea because i purchased some recently and have only used them once on my salad! Thanks for the idea!
Thanks for this recipe – am going to try this in the crock-pot tonight. Also a big thank you for the tip on the programmable timer! I never would have thought of that.
LOVE this recipe and it’s not overly sweet like the store bought kind. Thanks for the recipe!
Making this right know, and my kitchen smells sooo good!! Can’t wait to try this tomorrow in the morning. Greetings from Spain!
