This used to make a regular appearance on the supper table when I was growing up.
Raise your hand if you like Red Hots mixed in your applesauce. {Raises hand, and jumps up and down}
Hope you’re having a great weekend!

Wow, I’ve never even heard of doing that, but man, it sounds good!
Tiffany, I meant to share this the other day when you asked for apple recipes. It’s a recipe I found on the Kraft Foods website about 7 years ago, and have made a million times. It’s SO easy and SO yummy!
***
Cinnamon Apple Snack Cake
-1 cup sugar
-1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
-3 eggs
-28 squares cinnamon graham crackers, finely crushed (about 2 cups crumbs)
-1 medium apple, peeled, cored and diced
-3/4 cup walnuts, chopped
-powdered sugar
Blend sugar, butter and eggs in a bowl with a spoon. Stir in graham cracker crumbs, apple and walnuts until blended.
Spread batter into greased 8x8x2-inch baking pan.
Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes or until firm to the touch. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into squares and sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.

This recipe is so incredibly easy, I used to make it with my son and nieces when they were very young. They used to love when I’d put the graham crackers in a big ziplock bag, and let them go to town crushing them! Now that they’re all grown up, I use my food processor to get a nice, even crumb. I’ve also made this with plain graham crackers, which was just as yummy, or plain crackers with a tsp of cinnamon added to the batter. There’s no ‘wrong’ way to make it!
ChiTown Girl, thanks for the recipe. that sounds really good!
I remember it as a treat/dessert but not here – neither applesauce nor red hots are available. Tickled a friend when I went to visit and I bought applesauce with cinnamon to eat during the week. Had forgotten red hots
Thanks for the reminder.
Just stopping by to say that I gave you a blog award. Check it at Around My Family Table
Have a great day!
Ok, my kids really want to try that!
I used to love red hots–can’t wait to try it and see how it tastes!
Thanks for sharing!
