On Messy Cooks, Stained Laundry and Aprons

apron sassy black

This is my new apron.  I’ve needed a new one for a long, long time.

I’m a messy cook.  I’ve lost count of the number of clothes that I’ve stained because I wasn’t wearing an apron.  The worst are the grease stains from flipping burgers and other meats on the grill.  And tomato sauce stains.  And chocolate.

I’m sure if I would visit Lauren at Mama’s Laundry Talk, she could help me get the stains out.  But I’m also sure she would agree that it’s best not to stain clothes in the first place.   My new apron will keep my clothes stain free and looking good.

There is a second reason I ordered this apron.  You may remember that I mentioned I would be opening an OpenSky store on my site so that I can share products I use and love with you.

Before I offered products to you, I wanted to try out the ordering process myself.

Here’s how it went:

  • I ordered on a Thursday from OpenSky.
  • The process was simple and quick.
  • I got an email that day from Neil at OpenSky saying he would be handling the order.
  • The next day I was notified the order had shipped from Flirty Aprons.
  • A puffy envelope was delivered to my house on Wednesday.

What I love about my new Flirty Aprons apron (other than keeping my clothes neater):

  • It’s light weight and comfortable.
  • It’s cute!
  • The ties are long.
  • There are pockets on the front, perfect for my ipod.  (Listening to music makes doing dishes lots more fun.)

I’ve also added this print to my store, if you like a splash of red.

I had a dickens of a time choosing between the two prints.  In the end, I went with the Sassy Black because I’m messy and I think the black will help hide that.  But I still really love the Cherry Blossom print.

If you are in the market for a new apron, I highly recommend Flirty Aprons!

I’ve been trying to wear an apron more often. I’ve ruined far too many clothes from forgetting the apron.

We used to make aprons in Home Ec. But I never got into the habit of wearing one, with the predictable results. Love the cherry blossom print.

My girlfriends got me that same apron as part of my birthday present this year. It is so cute.

I love aprons and have a half dozen. I wear an apron all the time when I’m cooking…it just makes so much sense. These that you are featuring are just darling! It’s great that they have long ties…you just wrap them around and tie them in the front. Love ‘em!

Oh you are SO sweet to mention me!! What a pleasant surprise! And yes, I can help you get those stains out. The grease ones are super easy ;) http://wp.me/pO8yH-jt (I won’t be offended if you remove the link ;) )

I personally wear an apron every time I cook. I can’t seem to keep things from splattering all over me! That top black and white apron is SUPER cute! Love it!

    Thanks again :)

I love your site. Great recipes. Also, to get rid of grease stains on clothes…just use a bit of dawn dishwashing liquid with cold water-mix it in good and rinse. The stain will come out.

Wearing an apron as I type… I usually put one on when I go in the kitchen to get breakfast started and sometimes it stays on while I do chores (or school work if I forget I’m wearing it). It never fails, the time I forget to put on an apron, I ruin a shirt. My children ordered a new denim one for me for Christmas, and personalized it with fabric paint. It’s my favorite, of course. I love the ones you have here, too. They are so cute! Guess I need to do a little shopping. :-)
