Surprises

Last Friday afternoon, UPS dropped off a box at my house.  I wasn’t expecting anything and had no idea what it would be.  This beautiful purple box is what I found when I opened the packing box.  There was no card and I didn’t recognize the name on the packing slip.

A box of exotic truffles from a mystery person on a plain old Friday afternoon is a real treat!  I untied the bow and opened the box.  The names of the chocolates were printed on vellum paper.

Wink of the Rabbit, Black Pearl, Ambrosia…I was falling head over heals in love with the truffles and the mystery person who sent them to me.  Each truffle had a story to be read before eating, describing the flavors, spices and cultures of each chocolate.

And look at the chocolates!

Somehow I’ve managed to make them last all week.  Each one is delicious.

It took a little while to figure out who sent them to me.  After a conversation with my husband and a bit of sleuthing, we found out they were from colleagues of his who had heard that I’d had surgery.  That’s one of the nicest surprises I’ve ever had.

Now for a little surprise for you.  On Monday, I’ll be announcing a giveaway.  It does not involve chocolate, but I think you’re going to like it.  I’ll give the details in the menu/grocery list post.

Have you had any surprises lately?

Those look delicious! I’ve ordered before through Fairytale Brownies, those look so good too. I did it when a friend’s Mom passed away instead of flowers and sent along a little note saying, “because chocolate makes everything better.” She really liked it. :)
